Not a single moped amongst these. Why is it that no one seems to know what a moped is now a days?
@whatevermightwork3 ай бұрын
Does anyone make mopeds? The idea seemed great, but the market moved towards scooters because nobody wanted the pedals. If you want pedal today, you have to go electric.

Technically speaking, a moped is any motorised two wheeled vehicle under 50cc. A scooter is a vehicle with a floor platform for the rider’s feet. The term ‘moped’ was originally used to describe 49cc machines which were equipped with pedals to get round a legal loophole. The machines featured in this review are all mopeds due to their engine size,as well as being scooters.

I am sorry, but technically, my Sym Jet 14 50cc is described and licensed as a moped. Looks like a scooter, but has bigger wheels (14 inches, thus the name Jet 14), and small engine, thus making it a moped in the eyes of the law.

motorized bicycles are pretty much extinct nowadays except for like a very rare few and very old ones people still ride, it just stuck as a legal term nowadays i guess.

Vehicles & automobiles are categorized by the variation in engine but I think I understand where your getting at. Like old school mopeds.

All lovely mopeds, I'll stick with my NIU UQI PRO, a penny per mile, an entire week of commuting will cost me £1 and zero road tax 👍

Actually was debating to order a Speedfight 4 or the Aprillia SXR50 a few weeks ago, so I went to my local scooterstore. And basicly.. he shot down the SXR50 because there is 1 big downside to it, it lacks power when you are weighing above 85-90 kilo, which I do. the Speedfight 4 has more power when stock. Big downside of the speedfight 4 was that there are no aftermarket exhausts for it around here. but .. I still ordered the SF4 and later this month in about 1 or 2 weeks it will be delivered.

I own the sxr 50 for a while now. I think you get a lot for the price. Everything is led, nice display. Some extra compartments and a usb charger for your phone. But there are a view downsides. It lacks power so you have to do a view upgrades otherwise it's just to slow for normal traffic. It also has a view flaws the mirrors are to small, Lot of early models had problems with condensation in the display and front light, also the stand breaks a lot because its just not strong enough. Some have premature engine failure, and some minor electric problems. Its not the aprilia we know these scooters are made in india it's just not the quality you'll expect. So dont think you're getting a Italian build scooter.

If you are asking for a fuel efficiency, most will do over 200km in one tank. Speed is up to 50km per hour, so highways are off limits, but country roads are so much more fun. I travel to work around 40km every day, no problem on my Sym Jet 14. Even when it is hot... but then your fuel efficiency drops and bike can feel a bit lazy and hot. Not a big issue, though.

@@racamon This is entirely what I was asking about, you have made my life a whole lot easier! Many thanks. (I have done the Ha Giang loop in Vietnam, a must do for any bikie and so I am going back to do the north.)
