Don was actually the caretaker of the island and one day when he went to the island , he had found the drowned body of a little girl and had saw her doll floating around in the water so he hung it up on a tree as a sign of respect or something like that for the little girl and continued to hang up dolls on the trees

Talking about Cyprus; My dad, a UN Irish Peacekeeper, was sent to Cyprus when Turkey invaded. He always told me a story about how one day, when his unit was driving into town for something, they passed a Turkish Infantry unit setting up machineguns and trenches along the roadside. My dad's unit stopped and the Leftenant (a thin, red-haired chap who couldn't have been older than 22-23) leading the column got out, stormed over to the Turks- who were totally freaked out by this and were asking each other whether or not they should shoot him- kicked the nearest sandbags back into the trench and told them without even drawing his sidearm: "We're going into town for half an hour. When we come back, I don't want to see a single one of you fookers out here." Then he got back in his armoured car and they carried on. Such was the balls on this guy that when the unit came back the Turks were gone. Dad for his part just sat in the back of a truck with his gun out since he was the radio guy but still, I thought it was cool story.

I visited Centralia when I went to Pennsylvania back in June 2021.We only drove through the town because we were heading back to our place near tamaqua PA,It was so sad to see because the whole town was just covered in dirt and graffiti was everywhere!!There was a cemetery there that is still in pretty good shape .The government closed off the historical landmark graffiti road due to the underground fire that is still burning till this day
