“… if the remaining tasks are not so critical and not so dependent on a particular person who has been working continuously since the day 1 of this project, we do a resource shuffling coz price of the resources or the rate of the resources varies….” I am not a fan of replacing someone working on a project since day 1 with another person with similar skillset but lower rate card to avoid going for budget extension. If the person is not performing well then it’s a different case. If we’re keeping a skilled associate since the inception of the project and he is committed to his work and project/product then we must respect his/her commitment. Remember the times when an associate worked during festivals, missed kid’s birthday or their anniversary just to make sure there is no impact on project. If associates can go beyond their responsibilities to make a project succeed then as a leader it’s our responsibility to take care of them. We must humanize our workplaces rather than finding ways to cut cost. 😏 It’s just my POV and I know traditional PMs will disagree..

Agree, happened to me and facing such a mindset to cut cost is really painful on employee's end

Can the 1st scenario not be tried out by the below approach.. every company has a resource pool..they have a pool of technical resources and they know their skills..if a resource leaves the 1st step is to inform resource manager so that he can check the availability of same kind and tried to allocate.. 2nd inform internal and external stake holders regarding risk..3rd have a KT plan ready for project functional KT with all the docs and as soon as the new resource is onboarded start with it . Socializing is not a specific step for this it is always there for PPMs

How can be plan budget in fix cost budget so that we can show case the earning from the project post closure?

“we can not incorporate any additional scope in incoming or in progress sprint or in subsequent 2-3 sprints which are already designed..” I don’t fully agree to this, agile gives us flexibility to inspect, adapt and change our course of action to take up and deliver highest known value at that point of time. We can’t be so rigid to not change our subsequent 2-3 sprints. I agree that we must not pull in new scope in ongoing sprint but that too is allowed if we’re trading it off with a similar sized story without having an impact on the sprint goal.
@untextbook6 ай бұрын
You are right. What I meant was depending on the criticality and impact we may not include the additional scope in subsequent sprints. If that needs to be done then we go ahead only after impact analysis and adjusting the sprint goal.. Many thanks for your thoughts it helps me to connect and stay engaged.😊

I still don't understtand what role does Project Manager play, is there any actual function that they do or just control, coordination and communication? If that, that's the very generic thing to do and anyone with good communication and negotiation trait can do.
@untextbook4 ай бұрын
I am noting down the question and will reply in my next talk. Thanks for asking!
@mithunk3803 ай бұрын
PM is not always generic stuff. The PM should know about what is happening. If the PM doesn't know basic network concept, will he involve network flow team in the stakeholders list? So there are so many things around. Also most of the PMs will be individual contributors. And they should have good influential skills as well having good background on what to happen

Wrong answer to first question as two aspects associated with question 1 Sudden leaving 2 Resigned Advantage coming out of resignation is notice period and that advantage not covered in answer.
@CareersTalk6 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your perspective
@untextbook4 ай бұрын
There is no advantage coming out of resignation even if notice period can be leveraged to ramp up any team members. I will tell you why? While we deal with varied kinds of experience, my experience in working with a team mostly not from India, NP are usually very short compounded with annual leaves etc which the team member usually capitalize to get some breathing space before jumping on to next job. I have covered answer which is per my experience. However you are not wrong. When we have a notice period provision we can leverage that time.
