I've got Loop unopened from the Nerdz sale as one of my top games I need to learn. So many people have loved it. The King of Tokyo coop sounds good - especially if it's one I can play with our kids. And yes, X-men in MC sounds fantastic so far! One you didn't have I'm looking forward to is Terracotta Army.

I still want to play Spirit Island! Looks really interesting. King of Monster Island sounds like something I'd like as a fan of those classic Kaiju movies. Terra Nova might be better than Terra Mystica, but that's a low bar. I didn't find it that complex (but for background, I'm a Star Fleet Battles player so few games feel complex compared to it), it was just mind-numbingly boring. I know very little of Loop beyond your videos on it, so can't say much, but I'd certainly try it. Challengers could be cool. We actually played Crokinole at the Saturday meetup after playing Dwar7s Fall and Hansa Teutonica, when just 2 of us were left but didn't want to leave and wanted something super light! The thing I'm most excited for is that Keep the Heroes Out will be shipping to us soon! KS and not retail I know, but that's the big one for me.

I have a long wish list, but I won't ever actually purchase most of them. At the top of the list are: Empires of the North: Wrath of the Lighthouse from Portal Games, Evergreen from Horrible Guild, First Rat from Pegasus Spiele, Hickory Dickory from Plaid Hat Games, and King of Monster Island from Iello.

2:10 After my experience with buying Downforce at Target (and knowing about the Target version of Terraforming Mars), I am wary of buying hobbyist games at Target. The Target Downforce version was a different, cheaper version - and I had no idea. I should have checked BGG before buying it. Now I see Lost Ruins of Arnak at Target and Wingspan, etc. but I am afraid to buy those type of games at Target now after that incident.

3:30 And King of Tokyo was one of my first games I played when I first went to Game Night - and I immediately knew that for me, there is just too much dice rolling - and too much going in and out of Tokyo, for my taste. Roll to resolve is not really an interesting mechanism for my tastes. However, there are other games which wireless even less for me than KoT - like Betrayal At House On The Hill (same thing with the dice rolling - and also it was the game which made me realize that I don't like chaos in which you have no idea what is going on in the game until after it is over - referring to the haunts - and therefore I do not enjoy asymmetric games in which players are playing completely different games from each other - hence, I most likely would not like Root). I also do not like multi-player (more than 2 player) games which are so tactical that you cannot plan for your next turn until RIGHT BEFORE your next turn - because the board completely changes the game after every turn. Hence, this is why I do not enjoy Five Tribes.

I am looking forward to Terra Nova as well. No rulebook is stopping me too. Rise looks good too. I love this video because there are some Gems in retail but crowdfunding takes the wind of all those conversations.

agreed. the top 5 here for me are all pretty much almost guaranteed to make their way to my collection at some point

What about that Wolverine pack from Marvel Champions? You can have Jean Grey and Logan and Cyclops all team up. It can be a love triangle like in the comics. Wait…Wolverine & Scott dislike each other so not really a triangle, but you get the idea.

@ - no way. So geek’d about that. My short list would be enemy pack: Hellfire Club, Juggernaut & Black Tom, Mr. Sinister, Magneto, Apocalypse. Heroes: Night Crawler, Gambit, Shadow Cat, Iceman, Arch-angel (not the regular one).

Always wanted to play spirit island but it's way too heavy for us and way too long (two small kids at home leave only very spare windows to play) And yeah my gf doesn't know the titles of the games. She still beats me a lot ;)

Regarding Carcassonne - what the heck? Are we now abandoning the good old competition? are we now just going towards co-ops? Co-op Carcassonne is wrong on so many levels. Will the box contain participation trophies? As to Starship Captains - its a bit of a kiddy game. I played at UKGE and it lacks some antagonism for more seasoned players, but it's OK to play with kids. This is why I'm getting it.
