It had ridiculous parameters and a sprite they had edited to make it look like a new character. It was, obviously, done as an April Fool's joke If you scroll about halfway down this page, it talks about it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheng_Long But in a sense, it was the mistranslation that was the inspiration for the April Fool's joke

I've got one. Pink Bean, from MapleStory. When the Temple of Time was first introduced, players were expecting some huge, hideous abomination - if not the Black Mage himself - at the end, after a quest chain that required genocide on at least three-thousand mobs, total. Instead they found this cute, adorable, bean-shaped fellow. Who was pink. Who was, indeed, deadlier than any other boss to date. Blizzard announced a playable unit of Pandaren coming to Warcraft 3 and the community got so unexpectedly hyped that they ended up going with it and Pandaren became a major part of the lore and the main focus of WoW's 4th expansion.

One clever April Fools joke was when EALA teased a new unit for Red Alert 3 called the Mammoth Tank. The unit was a Mumakil from the BFME games with the turret from the C&C3 Mammoth Tank on the top. The unit never made it into the game (obviously) but EALA did release the art files for the unit and modders have been making use of it.

When Riot announced the Rapid Fire Mode for League of Legends as a joke, but realized it was a mistake, because soon after players REALLY wanted that mode, so they kinda had to make it a real deal. Some of my favorite April Fools Day Pranks by devs has been from Wargaming.net the makers of World of Tanks and World of Warships. They are always doing fun things seemingly just because "why the F not?" like for the FIFA finals they made a minigame in WoT where two teams played soccer... In tanks! But for this holiday they show their sense of humor. From the WoT one where they essentially made it to where your shots were nyan cats, rainbow tracer and all, to last years "bathtub battle" in WoWS where you were teams of bathtub toy boats with obstacles like giant rubber duckys and bubbles, shooting sounded like a squeak toy. This year though they really went all out in WoWS. They made SPACE BATTLES, as in, they took a bunch of top tier ships and reskinned them as beautifully rendered space ships and the islands are asteroids and stuff. Honestly it's SO beautiful that it could actually be its own game in and of itself! Also the ships and commanders all have names that are spoofs on classic Sci-Fi.

I think that the bigger Pokémon April Fools prank was Yoshi in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow.
