These are all just sponge cakes. My favourite base recipe is a Victoria Sponge, as it's easy to scale up or down, you can flavour or colour it however you like and fill with fresh cream and fruit, buttercream or cover with fondant. The only thing I would say is if you're icing it for a celebration it will crumble less if you make it a day in advance 😉 Enjoy your baking!
