Little known fact Harrison Ford was very sick with the flu the day they shot that scene so instead of him doing the same thing with the sword he just thought screw it and shot him instead. And Steven Spielberg liked it so when she just kept it in the film.

My favorite moment is, "Indiana... Indiana... Let it go." the scene that pulls Indiana back to reality when he's reaching for the very thing his father spent his life on, Elsa lost her life for, by Henry Jones Sir's first and second time he called his son by the name his son choose to be known by. This is also the start of a great relationship between father and son, as shown in Indiana Jones 4 that when he talks about the lose of Marcus Brody and his father, he takes the time to silently remember his old man. This seen shows us something never seen ever again. Indiana's love of his family, and his surprise that father had called him "Indiana" something that never happened. Henry Jones Sir. brings his son back to reality, by breaking it, and is the most touching scene in all 4 movies.

It's just another of the Lucas approach to films at that time. He was heavily influenced by the old serials, which is why the first Star Wars became "Episode IV" and Raiders of the Lost Ark became "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" just like those serials, implying that you were just seeing yet another chapter in an ongoing adventure. That influence is also a big part of what made both franchises seem so uniquely adventurous, so I don't mind.

A lot of great moments in the Indiana Jones franchise. My favorite was in Temple of Doom, after rescuing Willie, she says "let's get out of here", he responds "right, all of us". Then you see the light from the mine cart slowly shine on him right before he knocks out the guard, and rescuing the kids. Very heroic moment.

In Raiders Indiana has no role in it. With or without him the Nazi find the ark, take it to the island, open it and die. But if Indi wasn't in Raiders Marion would've been killed by the Nazi and Mutt would never have been born. So, like it or not, Crystal Skull saved Raiders.
