Kanye. Straight up. Also I didn't know Yoda accepted an award for them? Now that is epic! I heard about Drake's awkward cut off a few weeks ago I don't remember from where but I just did. Actually I know where. I was trying to look up one of his lyrics in Blessings where he said "I don't give two ****s about where the Grammy's go, I gave away some on my Instagram" I was tryna find out if he did based on that and why for my mom and that was the first thing that came up on Google. Also I didn't know Joaquin phoenix was bleeped? I was watching where I'm from and we heard everything. I still think him being cut off like that was disrespectful. I was really into what he was saying. They should just have a block for those people who got cut off to allow them to finish what they were saying and it will be post Grammy's, Golden Globe etc.

@Miron Gaines we the audience don't always care about their (the performer's) political opinions. all we care about is the amount of talent they have and how thankful they are for it. Award shows are meant to celebrate the talented individuals, not be a platform for them to complain about something that is none of their business most of the times. what one can say is a "powerful statement" might be perceived as a marketing strategy by those who are less fortunate than the stars that are "speaking up". plus, most award shows run 3hrs long, and the event organizers have a schedule to keep to since it is a basic requirement to have at least 2 intermissions for a show that long (toilet breaks). they gotta fit the entire show in the allotted time, speeches can't run too long since it will overlap with the time-slot given to performers and presenters. entire musical performances of Oscar-nominated songs had to be cut because of time constraints, but certain actors still find the time to complain about politics in their speeches. when you take into consideration the amount of categories that needs to have a fair amount of coverage, the award show will probably stretch to 10hrs long, and for an audience, 10hrs is ridiculous. most TV channels can't slot in a 10hr show as a live-broadcast, it's far to long and most viewers will probably only watch about 30mins of it and get bored, they already have problems slotting in a 3-4hr show, considering they have to reschedule tv shows' regular time slot to make room for the once-a-year award show coverage. if the award show runs too long it messes-up their broadcasting schedule which can be a PR nightmare.

Honestly, every freaking body knows that Kanye-Taylor moment at the 2009 VMAs overshadowed every award show moment in history. No one's shut up about it since, myself (and WatchMojo, obviously) included, apparently. Still controversial after eleven years (no duh). As for Joaquin Phoenix's speech at the Golden Globes, to be fair, sure it was pretty long, but he was humble and definitely taking a political spin with it. Awkward or not, he deserved every moment on that stage, damnit!

I think that thing of “cutting off” speeches is a lack of education, if they are running out of time then stop buying tv time and stream it online, it’s so disgusting to see how somebody is trying to think what they are going to say specially when it’s their first time or talking about something serious, if they get in problems for what they say then it’s the speaker’s problem, let them talk, stop being disrespectul and let people tell whatever they want and take the time they need to take

Why can’t people just be understanding and stop punishing others for not being perfect? Actors aren’t perfect, they’re people, this is why actors are seen so immortally. Because shows hate showing the imperfections and always frown so harshly on them. Leave these people alone. They’re trying their best. Acting socially on stage is different than on a private stage. (This is mainly in defense of Phoenix.) but everybody makes mistakes as well.
