Say thanks to South African engineers of the 70's setting the standards for these vehicles.

Rhodesia developed a LPPV called 'hot-lips' in 1960/70s that looks remarkably similar to the British Foxhound / Ocelot LPPV. The Foxhound was signed into service in 2012 Afghanistan as a desert patrol vehicle despite the fact everyone knew it overheated & broke-down in hot weather (50+ degrees). Rhodesia designed their vehicles to save lives; Britain put corporate profits & corrupt pay-offs before their soldier's lives.

@@anthonycheaford1962 As I understand the Rhodesian Leopard was one of the first and some Swedish vehicles. The thing is they did not properly apply it until a South African engineer developed it properly with some science backing it up.Apparantly he was the one who coined the saying that the first 3 feet belongs to the enemy meaning when a lind mine goes off nothing will survive below that. Thus the development of the mine resisting hulls above 3 feet and many more research and development.America took these concepts and integrated it in their anti mine vehicles. This old man of South Africa was also responsible for other ground breaking ideas and concepts. He was contracted to a Canadian company after 1994.I can only guess if he still lives today. If he was also part of the design of the Leopard I would not know either. The only thing I can say is.Thanks SA.You saved many American soldiers lives.

@@cjb5003 I was highlighting Rhodesian hot-lips vehicle because of its design similarities to the modern British Foxhound vehicle mentioned in this video. The Ministry of Defence boasted the Foxhound was designed by BMW & Maclaren F1 technicians, which is probably why it only has 14" ground clearance rather than the 36" ground clearance you correctly state as being necessary for effective blast mitigation. I assume you're correct about the real technical developments coming from the South African engineers, and yes, credit where credit is due - it's saved many lives since.
