Dominion may not use a board, but it ought to qualify as it's spectacular. It's just semantics at that point that aren't helpful. If you're stuck on a technicality, I won't argue further with you. I didn't expect to see them here, but I still think Calico and Sagrada deserve honorable mentions. They're beautiful drafting puzzle games with fun themes that are constantly challenging

This list is awful. They're missing iconic games like Azul and Castles of Burgundy, as well as the best rated game three years in a row: Gloomhaven.
@PamWD3 жыл бұрын
@@sewaprolo There are a ton of games they could have mentioned, including lighter games such as Calico, Sagrada, Azul, and Castles of Burgundy. But I certainly would not expect a daunting games such as Gloomhaven to be on the list. Even Jaws of the Lion is a stretch for what I believe is the target audience of this video. I would have every Lacerda games on a list like this if it was mine!
@sewaprolo3 жыл бұрын
@@PamWD yes, but the name of the video is "top ten best board games of the century," and gloomhaven definitely fits that category, regardless of difficulty. It's not called "top ten best board games that are suitable for uno card flinging dumbasses" or something along those lines.

@@sewaprolo I disagree with the people this may be targeting in the terminology you used or anywhere close to it. It's rather insulting. It's the opinion of the people who did the list, plain and simple. It didn't say it was a list of top games on BGG, or something along those lines. If it bothers you this much you could just ignore it and move on.

Hands down the most played in my house and my favorite game is Dice Throne. It is a 1v1 Yahtzee style game with cards. You take 1 of 16 unique characters, with board and pamphlet of powers and roll your dice. "Look I have done 12 points of damage to you because I got a large straight 2,3,4,5,6. opponent says "not this time. I thrown down my helping hand and make you reroll your 4 and you get a 2,3,5,5,6. I break up your Large Straight and you don't have anything. I take nothing" The close second is Dice Throne Adventures. Instead of 1v1 attacking it is a 1-4 player dungeon crawl with the same characters but you are facing minion's and monsters to kill the ultimate Boss.

What's your methodology here? according to bgg top 10 is: gloomhaven, pandemic legacy, brass birmingham, terraforming mars, twilight imperium 4th ed, gaia project, star wars rebellion, through the ages ANSOC, great western trail, and war of the ring 2nd ed. They use a democratic voting ranking system of almost all serious global boardgamers... what you got??

but this is not a bad list, many of the games here are classics that have great influence. Some of the entry level games may not be high on bgg list, but they are perhaps the most important ones because they are the ones that bring people to the hobby.

Okay. So I'm really conflicted here. I stopped watching Watch Mojo videos years ago because I realized they usually weren't well thought out and researched. However, I was excited to see this list video because despite my current feelings about Watch Mojo, they have a large viewing audience and I'm all for anything that creates more exposure for and awareness of my favorite hobby. But then I see in the comments that Watch Mojo did not bother to ask permission of the content creators featured in this video for use of their footage, nor did they link to them in the description. By leaving this very comment, I am promoting this video by increasing its activity, but should I dislike it because of the reasons stated above, like it because of the exposure it creates, or just leave it be? Recommended Games: 1.) Azul 2.) Clank! 3.) Raiders of the North Sea 4.) Paladins of the West Kingdom 5.) Cthulhu Wars 6.) Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game 7.) The Quacks of Quedlinburg 8.) Disney Villanous 9.) Smallworld 10.) Unmatched 11.) Tiny Towns 12.) Western Legends 13.) Museum 14.) Tiny Epic Galaxies (and others in this series) 15.) Tokaido 16.) Call to Adventure 17.) Planet 18.) Fury of Dracula 19.) Shadows Over Camelot 20.) Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid 21.) Spirit Island 22.) Stone Age 23.) Terraforming Mars 24.) Rise of Atlantis 25.) Mage Knight

If we are talking table top in general, then I have to recommend Dominion a deck building game. while previous experience in a deck building style of table top games is not necessary, the learning curve on how to strategize does mean beginners luck (the luck of the draw does come into play on occasion) rarely ever results in a beginner's victory, however since victory is obtained by having the most points compared to your 3 opponents I have seen 2nd and 3rd place finishes largely because of the phenomenon. A game is fairly short 30-45 min on average (rule of thumb add about 10-15 per new player). Setup can take a bit especially when you add the expansions, however once you and you table top group get the hang of it you will be hooked I can almost guarantee it!

Catan was last century and thus not included. This is a list of game for this century. I know, it is hard to believe, but Catan is 26 years old and was released in 1995. Carcassonne "snuck in" as it was released in the 20th century as well, but in 2000, so people still think of it as "this century," which, technically could still be true if you call it the 2000's and not the 21st century.
