A couple of things any breakbarrel shooter need to know: 1. You don't want a air rifle that shoots at more than 850 - 900 fps! If a pellet goes faster than that it will destabilize and you won't hit anything you aim at. So if an airgun is marked with 900+ fps then either the airgun producer is lying or the airgun is unshootable. 2. You cant silence a springer airgun with a moderator, the sound comes from the spring/gas ram and not from expanding gasses. 3. If you want more power: Go up in caliber, not in speed but consider then the more power the harder the gun is to shoot ( for god sake use "artillery hold" ). And lastly "Beeman" R1 and R7 are Wheihrauch guns, a German producer of superb airguns. The real name of R7 is HW30 and the R1 is the formidable HW80 that are mentioned twice in this video. The names were changed by Beeman and HW accepted the name change because they wanted to get in on the USA marked.

Sounds as though you're an air rifle enthusiast. What about a good hunting break barrel. I'm talking squirrel, rabbit, etc. Would that break barrel take down a raccoon?

@@beebob1279 Its all about shot placement and the HW95 has all the precision you will need. If you keep it close enough and can hit with pinpoint accuracy you are not going to be disappointed. A powerful springer like that are a challenge to shoot but if you do the artillery hold and practice a lot it will surprise you with its capability. Practice by shooting at sugar cubes, when you can hit ten out of ten at a certain distance then you can hunt at that distance and closer. Don't over stretch your shooting distances! And remember to find the pellets that your gun like, every barrel likes different pellets. Get a sample set from JSB and H&N and see what pellet gives the best grouping at 30 yards.

From the little I know, co2 is not worth the trouble, multi shot is side by side with co2. If you only have 1 mag for a multi shot break barrel I can put 20 shots down range faster with a single shot break barrel. This is not a good game for shot placement.

I only like break barrels, Weihrauch and Beeman are the same rifles, I got the Beeman R-1 and R-9. Excellent and absolutly quality and super-accurate rifles. Webley Patriot or Beeman Kodiak made in England ( same super-magnum rifle) not in production any more, is an excellent rifle too. 350 RWS, Cometa Fusion are almost in the same league. The only scope for me that really withstand recoil from powerful magnum ( spring o nitro piston ) air rifle is the Leupold Vari X 3x9x33 EFR. I own the hatsan .25 cal vortex and it's a the hardest break barrel to crank on the market and arguably the most powerful, it feels like an absolute chore to crank and you can't plink all day unless you are some type of gym rat. I don't have too many issues with accuracy but it's not dialed every single shot and a bit finicky. These things can smoke bigger animals than rabbits, from longer ranges, but they are so heavy it almost makes walk hunting impractical. Dunno if I would recommend it but when it cracks off a pallet the heavy impact is quite satisfying 😌and when you actually hit a rabbit it's lights out no matter the shot placement. It's definitely honest quality for the money and you can feel it when you get it in your hands. I think hatsan needs to innovate some lighter break barrel air guns or choose a better design, still a mile better than Gamo magnum.

Some of theses guns have the safety lever located within the trigger guard- the nonsensical worse place for it. Steel springs on some air rifles fail if compressed for a very short time period, yet automobile valve springs all can set compressed for years and nevertheless work to specs to 200 thousand miles and much more. That amounts to many tens of millions of compression cycles without failure. Why is this? There can be only one reason.
@Patrick-8572 жыл бұрын
It's to do with the percentage of the springs capacity for compression being used. On a springer its being almost compressed 100% when cocked. This can be solved by putting a different spring in. Larger diameter spring, less preload, and get a high quality spring. It's actually not much of an issue, and springs are cheap and relatively easy to replace.
@homeagent2 жыл бұрын
that's the perfect spot for the safety. You know emediately, _before trying to shoot_, Does it not suck when you didn't know safety was on & you were SO dead on the target...? Now... how far do you have to move your hand to switch off the safety?? it's the perfect spot!

I bought a Gamo for nuisance animals in the back yard. It is ok for big animals like possum or coon but not for squirrel. It just won't repeat on the target. The pellets are all over the target, no matter what kind of pellet I use, it just won't give me a good group. I even tried target shooting with it on my rifle sled. I figured since it is a .22 cal., I can use it for shooting wild pigs in my pig trap, but even at close range, it won't penetrate the skull if shot between the eyes. I have to shoot the soft spot behind the ear to penetrate. It's almost impossible to get a wild pig to turn at an angle so I can shoot the one place it will humanely kill the animal. I ended up giving it to a nephew so he could go plink around his house.

(sarcasm) How did Gamo ever develop a break barrel using a "single cocking system"? Those rifles advertising velocities faster than 1,000 fps, are using lightweight alloy pellets, and such speeds cause guns to shoot inaccurately. But do provide the ability to shoot heavier pellets at usable velocities, which provide some advantages. You didn't mention that magnum breakbarrel air rifles are more difficult to shoot accurately. The artificial voice destroying the English language is irritating and necessitates going back to relisten.
@xdskroot72472 жыл бұрын
Magnum Break barrel air rifles are only difficult to shoot accurately if they are a spring piston. Spring pistons are a thing of the past these days, gas rams or nitro pistons are the way to go.
@Patrick-8572 жыл бұрын
@@xdskroot7247 This is incorrect. There's little difference between the two, and gas rams have more harsh recoil. They are just as difficult to shoot. Springs aren't a thing of the past either, all the best non pcp airguns still use springs, and they are far more tunable and springs are cheap and easy to replace. Gas rams are fine, but you won't see many in the high end springers that get used in field target ect. I have two Hatsan 135s, one with a gas ram and one with a spring. There's next to no difference, other than the spring one is slightly softer shooting and develops slightly more muzzle energy. And I can tune the spring version, aftermarket spring kits ect, to make it outshoot the gas ram one.
@Patrick-8572 жыл бұрын
@@xdskroot7247 Magnum piston guns are hard to shoot, doesn't matter if it's a gas ram or a spring. Worst accuracy I get with any of my airguns is the Gamo G-magnum. It's a gas piston one, and it's just too light and jumpy. That's where the Hatsans shine, they are really heavy, and that helps with recoil. Best accuracy I've gotten is with an Air Arms Prosport. That's a springer and it's actually pretty surprising how powerful it is too.

@@Patrick-857 Pellets matter a lot too. For accuracy with my gamo swarm magnum gen2 I wouldnt use anything below 18 grains. Best in it are the H&N Baracuda Match 21 grains, or heavy slugs.
