The real reason why Filipinos have excellent vocal and singing prowess is because we are hardcore music lover. Must be because of the weather and the tropical vibes like we sing everytime and to everything, for example, to make the clouds disappear or to let the rain come down or serenade our beloved (harana or mañanita, etc) even when meditating on the Passion of Our Lord (pabasa) and so many others. Singing as well as dancing has been always acting as a huge part in our communal way of living for they fortify our bonds and relationships among us in our communities, a trait that has further developed during Spanish Occupation in The Philippines and has fully enhanced and blossomed up to this day and so forth.

One of the theories I think makes the most sense for me is that the most spoken local language Tagalog has emphasis on the wide sounding vowels. And when you sing, mastery of those vowels help MASSIVELY in producing a nice rich tone even in higher notes or pitch. So I guess Filipinos have a huge advantage just from language alone.

I always pray that when a Filipino enters a contest, they win. Otherwise their future is bleak, there is not many opportunities in the Philippines for a career…..they either go abroad to work, open a small kiosk or end up on the streets to support their families. She was the winner of X-Factor Australia 2014. I was so blown away by her voice that I purchased her debut album, and I don't buy many albums!
