The best "survival" machete is a $10 Tramontina. They've been surviving with them for decades down in central & south America.

Ye because it works on there non fibrous vegetation. Down there a thin slicer is perfect. Here in the western USA a thick machete works better for chopping the drier thicker more fibrous woods.

I'm an old man now.....Your intro into this video is 100% correct. The machete needs to match your environment, your physical stature, chore, and needs. An example is, I am Older now. I can't chop long term anymore,,,so I needed more weight to blade for chopping bite. I now prefer a Silky Saw over chopping large pieces 3" or more...less exertion. I now maneuvered to an Ontario SP53 with a SILKY Gombo AT BASE CAMP ONLY. Hikes....my Mini Duku with my Silky saw. OLD AGE isn't bad, you just need to be wise and make good choices.

For my environment a very thick machete is the best. I need a mean chopper, I’m not slicing anything

You can't go wrong with these brands ESSE, Cold Steel, CRKT, Condor And TOPS machetes. 👍 Gerber is not be trusted after Man vs Wild knife scam and poor quality. Schrade is okay but not hard working type. You have researched well this time. Good work, keep it up 😎👍

What is your opinion of the Guardian Machete put out by Warrior Life?
@MrX-yj1zl3 жыл бұрын
why you people can't understand machete is thin piece of metal and must be used in the jungles of south America or Africa.It's not intended for European or north Asian woods.Even Indonesian parang that's much thicker than machete,Is good only for using in south asian jungles were trees are softer.For our European and north Asian woods you need minimum thick bowie or strong axe.Remember this,It's important for quality of survival.

I’ve got a few and for the price they are hard to beat. Their weak point is the handle and the aluminum rivets. The rivets can be replaced with steal hardware but I really wish they had full tangs.

Cold seel there cheaper machetes come completely blunt and really hard to sharpen ! Best bang for your buck is tramontinia. My all time favourite brand Condor !! I own the Condor Discord , makara they are CHOPPING BEASTS !!!

I'll say the first one and el chete seem like some good ones but I'd go with a condos parang or a tremotina I found a old in my cow field rusted to pieces chipped blade took me like 30min of elbow grease and two pieces of sand paper and a ton of grinding with my stones but now it'll go through a 6" water oak in one swing

Why most western people put the sheath on their right hip if their right dominant and vise versa like a pistol
@Swearengen19803 жыл бұрын
Because a cross draw is neither quick nor convenient and also limits access by your dominant hand. It's not rocket science.

I like my ww2 bolo Australian Machete nice and weighty Army stuff if always good stuff Getting hard to find slowly $150-$300 if in great condition With case mines great condition. Hard to find as many gave them to the Pacific islander guys Well, in new Guinea I know my gran father said as thoses guys did a wonderful job Carried many wounded guys out of jungle unforgiving terrain for days to safety So I guess many did all though thoses regions. Then I have a cold steel jungle Machete 2008 I got that? It's Razor sharp A few say there not, mine sure is also got a cheep $10.00 one bit ot a hook on the back of the blade, for grabing stuff it's quite thin compared to the others, good for light stuff I just use that in the garden It's like a suger cain style

Scenario😣 You just been through a devastated and catastrophic event that all around the world got affected the same, and where human life existence went down to 10%. You have no choice but to constantly move from place to place because most of the houses and buildings have been heavily damaged. Some places are more dangerous than others because of over flooding, or earth quacks. You are so tired and hungry. You have a tactical backpack with some water, food and some other survival items, also three handguns, ammo, a rifle, and multiple knives. It’s time to make that one choice. The bag is to heavy now. What should you keep? 😱

I don't like light machetes because when you chop larger chunk of woods you have to put to much effort to cut trough it.
@micahwest53473 жыл бұрын
If you need one to cut lots of wood you need to get one with more forward weight. Tramotina Bolo comes to mind but there are some even heavier blades from condor.

@@The4cp Yes I agree with you Scharade is poor quality steel ! From what I hav been told a couple of years ago Scharade sold the company and the people who bought the company they don't even heat treat the steal no more !! 3 years ago I bought a large Bowie knife from Scharade called Leyroy It chiped and broke when I was chopping a branch that was 2 inches thick. I couldn't believe it !! I returned the large knife back to them and got my money back ! The old Scharade knives were well made !! But not any more!!
