The greatest convenience of the microfiber towel I have found is simply fulfilling packing lists. Almost every packing list has a towel required. These pack so small it doesn't become a problem stuffing the whole pack back together

Ranger 9-74: All this beautiful gear is wonderful, but from an old gray Ranger, all you need is a mindset to master whatever is presented. You are going to be wet, cold, and hungry-no big deal. You do not have to be the fastest or do the most pushups. You just have to complete every task to standard. Roll with the punches and keep on trying each and every minute. Help others and you will be stronger. Learn from the training, as it will help you for the rest of your life. Ranges Lead the way

I use my girlfriends profile. My greatest regret in life is not going to Ranger school. I did Ranger training with a Ranger legend, David Eubanks. I was part of the 2nd Ranger Batt of the Rudders Rangers of Texas A&M . I earned a slot into Ranger School and before I could go I got so sick I was hospitalized for a year. My military career ended before it began! I still use some of my Ranger training to this day. For all incoming Rangers earn your Tab it will be the proudest moment of your life. And the secret to getting through Ranger school is having a strong mind!! You WILL NOT QUIT!! Just take everyday one second at a time. Dont look forward or backwards just one second at a time and if you let your mind quit even for a moment you are done!! Never Quit!!

Bad luck, Lisa; sorry. BQ '76, tab '77. What class / outfit are you? I was never in Rudders Rangers (not called that at the time but same thing). I told them I didn't need to practice suffering; it would come naturally. I'd rather spend my time at the honky tonk.

Currently I am training to enlist and go option 40 for RASP and subsequently Ranger School. I can attest to the Garmont boots. I ruck twice a week training up for the 12 mile, at this point I would prefer to run in my Garmont’s than my running shoes (Hokas). They are awesome!

You should check out GoRuck's MACV boots. I wore the NFS's at selection and they were great but my buddies MACV's dried out so much faster. I picked up a pair after and they are super comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. Only downside is that they are harder to get compared to the NFS's.

@GrittySoldier
@GrittySoldier 2 жыл бұрын
I like the darn toughs but honestly I LOVE the Fox Rivers. I think the Fox Rivers give you more value, they last longer, and are much less constricting for me around the shin. Darn toughs seem to always leave that “been in uniform all day” sock compression ring around the ankles and lower leg, and gets uncomfortable. That, and the Fox Rivers seem to last forever.

I want to talk about recovery phase.. your high on the tab when you leave.. but you got your dick kicked in a hundred times while your there. The first week after you start to feel pain in your body and you can sleep normal. It takes about 3 months for your body to adjust. Don't be a fat ranger. Stick to a planned diet and recovery workout so you can gradually renter operational status. Your whole body will be sore.. so recovery is as important as preparation. RLTW

HAIRCUTS were cut high and tight per post commander, not by AR 670-1. Headgear was to be worn sloppy not tucked down and or starched. But the gear the Army issued sucked and being mission ready was a priorty of course The Whole Country was never told of where we were........Lead the way...

A hat! They need a spare hat! I earned my tab in 1977; things have changed so much since then - except the fact that you are going to lose something. The physical standards are so much higher today; they were very high back then but they wanted us Vietnam-style lean, not muscular. Now they let you - demand that you - bring all this crap (I've seen your other videos). We showed up; period (we were allowed to buy Jungle Boots with those hard plastic insoles, and socks). They issued us what they wanted us to have so no one had even the slightest advantage; chewing gum was not allowed - but cigarettes and chewing tobacco was! I can't imagine doing what we did, but with 60 pounds of ruck. After Benning Phase, they allowed us to take only what we were willing to carry. On the last patrol, after I ate the food and shot the ammo, my ruck was almost empty - I'd rather do without than carry it. Do they still make you get under a poncho at night to check your map? And what's with all the glow-in-the-dark stuff. Except for the cat-eyes on our hats, we were taught to never have anything that could give us away.

I think chances are lower than 30% going as a support officer, but that’s only if you are just an “average” officer. If you excel, and constantly push to get a slot for Ranger, you’ll get the chance I’m certain. We had plenty of support MOS O’s in my class, Quartermaster, Signal, MI, etc, and most did well. My advice is to start pushing for it as soon as you get to BOLC, or try to go as a cadet during the Summer/Winter break. Oh, and I’m currently an Infantry Officer .

Okay... the first thing I will say as a old timer infantry guy is that most of the gear you're showing didn't exist in the early 1980's, and guys like myself would have had to use whatever we had going into Ranger school or RIP as we used to call it... The main items we would have had to have were good boots, a Lensatic compass, a good knife... It was well known that Ranger school or RIP was going to be tough as hell to pass, and anyone wanting to go to Ranger school/RIP had better be on their best game going in...

For me they are, very true to size. Same size I get my running shoes in. 👍

@@GrittySoldier they hold up well in the mountains/rough terrain? Or would you think the Garmont Bifidas would be better? They're like the NFS just different soles/tread
@GrittySoldier

@@kevinclair8927 yes they are definitely better! Don’t get the bufidas they are too clunky IMO.

I had same question. I really like the Garmont NFS. Had read people say they like the Rocky S2V for mountains due to more support. You used the Garmonts during all phases and had 2 pair? Love how light they are and fit well. Just question durability. Thanks

@@AllAmerican1993 I think that’s why I like the NFS so much, they are durable and lightweight at the same time, which can be hard to find.

Wait a second. I am NOT a military guy and never served. Forgive the ignorance. But you have to buy your own stuff when you are applying to Ranger School??

@@GrittySoldier I swear I don’t know what end is up anymore? So you’re trying out for the military’s version of MLB and you have to buy your own cleats. Just when I though I heard it all…. So if you ever know anyone that is trying to get thru Ranger school and realize a dream but can’t afford to get these kinds of odds and ends, please look me up and we will make it happen and get them what they need. You guys do enough as it is. Maybe I’m crazy but this is like when teachers have to buy school supplies.
