As a native Torontonian,I would of course add, Kensington Market/Chinatown on a weekend, a Raps/Leafs/Jays/Tfc game, Queen St West for eats/livemusic/open mics, go to parts of Scarborough for any, literally ANY ethnic/cultural food, Toronto Islands (leave at night via ferry to see the skyline), Eaton Centre/Yorkdale Mall/Pacific Mall, concerts galore, Canada's wonderland/Canadian National Exhibition, Niagara Falls wineries, the Science Centre, The Docks driving range/drive in, various Brewery Tours downtown, stand up comedy at Yuk Yuks or Absolute Comedy, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, High Park/Riverdale Park and Farm, Downsview Park for the kids , all the random festivals that happen in the summer time...the list is endless

As a local here's my advice: skip Casa Loma, the Zoo is nice but so FAR (even for locals), instead go to the islands in the summer - the ferry ride is fun and cheap and the views of the city from the island are great. Also try to check out some of the unique neighbourhoods. For example, West Queen West was ranked one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Vogue, King West has fantastic clubs/bars, go to Chinatown, Little Italy, Greektown, Kensington Market.

Im trying to decide between staying at the hotels (maybe Radisson Blu) by the harbour. Or the Marriot downtown by Eaton centre. And whats the one activity youd definitely recommend for a family. Since we're only there for a day, Ive decided not to go to CN tower. We are planning the visit in October. Hows the weather?

I thought the gay village was world famous. Toronto is OK to visit but too expensive for ordinary living. There are very few things to do for free. People from other countries will immediately notice the restrictive rules and regulations about everything. It resembles a military camp environment, like the rest of Canada. Very safe and controlled.

I would say it’s kinda a myth that it’s more expensive to live In Toronto than in other big cities in Canada.Of course if you live in Alberta it’s gonna be cheaper, but let’s talk about an average big Canadian city, let’s take Halifax for example, yeah you do have cheaper rent, but higher taxes, lower salaries and higher prices for pretty much everything else except housing evens it up or maybe makes it even more affordable to live in Toronto.Of course you can have way cheaper live in cities like Cape Breton or Prince Edward. But having an average salary in Toronto would give you an affordable life and don’t forget that Toronto has a lots of opportunities in pretty much every industry unlike cheaper places where you have not much diversity in terms of industries

Its unfortunate that Toronto is heartthrob of Ontario and there are not many historical places of interest here. Sometimes it seems like a concrete jungle where you don't feel connected to the history of Canada and it's immigrants rather find your ways into the modern hub of civilization covered with glamorous buildings, fancy shops and cafés.
