Skip the Capilano Suspension Bridge and go to the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge instead, it's free. Also the "oldest part of the city" is actually New Westminster, a small city between Burnaby and Surrey...(that's technically where the first settlement was in the area). You made a good list, here are a few honorable mentions to add on, White Rock in South Surrey, Steveston in South Richmond, Horseshoe Bay and Queen Elizabeth Park....these are all nice little places to visit if your looking to do some more sightseeing.

As a longtime Vancouverite, I was happy to see this tribute to my beautiful (but expensive) city with its multicultural fascination. Nice job. One issue, though: The still shot on YT that caught my eye looked strange to me -- and then I realized that it's been flipped horizontally, so Stanley Park is on the wrong side. If you could fix that, it would be perfect.

Vancouver iin 2022, had 23 public shootings the worst in Canada, homeless, death of drug addicts, it rains 9 months per year , 50 % of the population is asian ( Chinesem Indians) it does not represent the identity and culture of Canada . Very USA culture , you cannot be served in both officila languages of Canada . Very expensive city and downtown is not green .. To be in nature you need to get out of the city .

For some reason, Vancouver locals seem to hate the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, seeing it as a tourist trap… I guess it is expensive. However, last week I was one of those tourists, spending two days in Vancouver (July 2022), and the Capilano Suspension Bridge was the highlight of our trip. There is a free shuttle to get there from downtown that passes every 15 minutes, and the view from the bridge is absolutely breathtaking… the trees are the tallest I’ve ever seen. Regarding Chinatown, don’t listen to this video - we did visit it and I do NOT recommend it - I assume it may have been nice maybe 40 years ago, but it is now almost completely abandoned and full of homeless people. I heard Richmond is now Vancouver’s “real Chinatow” (i.e. where you will find the best asian food) but we did not have time to visit it.

I couldn't put Capilano bridge as the top 10 places to visit. If you spend an hour 1 to 1.5 hour, you should really visit Sea to Sky gondola in Squamish that offers amazing mountain/water views and experience of suspension bridge between mountain peaks. Kill two birds in one stone. I was there last Sept and it was such an amazing trip to Sea to Sky gondola. Word of caution: Only go up the gondola when the sky is clear/sunny.

Canada used to be clean. As the youngest of boomers, born and raised in Montreal… from childhood to my mid 30s every time we crossed the border to NY or VT states… and the locals heard we were from Canada… the #1 comment we would hear EVERY TIME was “Oh Canada is so clean” and it was. Then I worked and lived in Los Angeles for 25 years. Now I live in Vancouver’s West End. Everything is very different from what I am accustomed to. The biggest difference is: this is a much smaller city than what I am used to and due to its’ topography… obviously the emphasis is on nature rightly so. But it comes at the expense of “culture” across the board that is sadly lacking compared to the above cities and that of SF and NYC - that is what I miss. And since I have been back…it is true that Canada is no longer as clean as it used to be.

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.
@johnandrews34342 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. Let’s see now: there is no police presence at any of the beaches or sea wall where there has been random attacks on people. We have the largest homeless tent city right in the middle of downtown ( lots of criminal activity there) . The police are not proactive, hard to drag them out of their cars,. Let’s build a tunnel under broadway for students to get to UBC.( wonder who got that contract and what kick backs happened). Parks board works autonomous form the city so do what ever they want. Set up areas in parks for drinking alcohol, which everyone drinks where they want. ( again no police presence, or should I say the police cannot be bothered) . The main problem with the westend area is that it is all renters who do not care what happens in the community. There is so much more, it’s sad.Oh, one more thing, the city councillors and mayor NEVER respond to your emails.
