Imma get real here. Poppin John was the one who inspired me into dancing. I really liked hiss animation style and started learning all the waves, robots and shit. I have no clue about popping or Hip Hop or even the history of dance. By the time I met real street dancers(hip hop, popping, locking etc), that's when I realise I know nothing at all. And now looking back at Poppin John, I still think he is one of the greatest in animation style especially his control in robot and his incredible waves and isolation and also those Godly glides. But to be honest(maybe it's because I'm more into battle now), if you notice, he is mostly off beat when he pops hard(his dime stops are on point tho). Comparing him to Scott, I personally think Scott have more creativity and more 'dance' in his style. John's movement are too repetitive, although it was super sick. I kinda get bored watching him. Well he is still one of the greatest and a living legend, gotta respect that.

Back then it wasn't a niche.. it was everywhere in every day life. Random battles popped up ... randomly. Today's B boys are better technicians no doubt about it. Those performances were cool and that was some great dancing of course the selection is your personable oponion and you are correct from that aspect however I really don't either one of those performers would be a match for many of the top members of "Dragon House" NonStop, Popping John, Blueprint, Andre Rucker, Cordoro, or J Code to name a few but I enjoyed the video

Put any of those performers you named and they won't survive in a 1 on 1 competition. They'll get eaten. Popping became famous because of these competitions. Look up BBOY Championship popping. Those are true legends of popping. Only reason why you are able to watch Popping John and the like on the Ellen Show is because of them. Know your history son. Salah is the GOAT.

The best popper I've ever seen was in 2002 Miami Hip hop Elements. Don't know his name, however, if you ever watch the it he shows up at the mid cypher collage, and he's wearing red and black, and he is the TRUTH! None of these guys ever come close, and they are solid Poppers.
