Why in the world would you opt out Toyota Yaris, especially the hybrid version. It's reliable (unlike half of the crap on your list), economic, practical and pretty good looking. It's downside is that it's kinda boring. But hey who buys a supermini for fun?

I do. That's why the only supermini I'd buy is a Mazda 2. It does everything from unbelivable fuel economy to driving enjoyment on backroads. Plus it's an N/A.

They haven't opted out the Yaris, they've only picked the ten best super mini's, I've driven one once and it was awful in every way. The suspension was terrible and the noise level too high, the seat position is like kitchen chairs in the front, the dashboard and the interior was so so boring.

I got a Yaris and I love it, yes its not the most fun to drive (but far from the most boring) but I know it will always work. Also the new Yaris has much better interior in terms of quality feel so you should try it out. Problem with all these car reviews is that they seem to favor cars that are fun, while there is nothing wrong with fun cars it won't matter how fun it is when you are stuck in traffic. A lot of people want a car that is reliable, safe and is able to take you from A to B without any issues. There are only two in this list that can do that, the Mazda and Honda but none of them are hybrids and while their reliability is amazing nothing on this earth can rival Toyota.

Like someone else on here already correctly pointed out, all of these boring cars are beyond super mini size. None of them are mini sized. An example of a mini sized car would be a Fiat 500 or a Smart car.

I own the 208, & love it. Its been reliable & the 1.2 turbo is good fun. Had the last gen Fiesta before that, it was superb too great to drive.

Indonesia's Jazz's engine hasn't been touched since 2007, so, no to me. But I'd still recommend it if someone is literally only looking for space.

Steve Edward with that silly logic of engines untouched are worse, then the old panther ford plattform didnt make much sense, since crown victorias were produced for more than 20 years with the same engine!

Steve Edward Here in Brazil we have a 1.5 litter engine that develops 116hp with the CVT gearbox but it's way expensive for our market. Although Honda sells a lot of them because they are extreme reliable! It could have a better looking interior with better materials and a brand new engine would be better as well.

I personally think the fiesta is too expensive. I sat it one the other week and it was almost £20k.. I currently own the polo and love it. So easy to drive and comfortable

The Polo is also expensive. So is the Seat Ibiza. These cars are getting bigger and bigger, but also more and more expensive. The only thing I hate is that you don't get 4 electric windows until the top trims. It's a feature that every single car should have.

Micra and yaris - the Micra is one of the best cars for an impact test(built in rollbar cages, and layers of panel skins), great on long distant journeys, faults are uncommon in the engine, good off road, very roomy - the Yaris is good quality !

Why would anyone pick a Hyundai i20 over a Kia Rio? Newer car with modern interior, better looking overall and 7 instead of just 5 years warranty.

Christian Brandtner well Im trying to decide between the two, and just recently drove both. I gotta say I prefer the i20 driving experience, the 1.0 engine in the i20 just feels more nippy and refined (I know its the same engine) not sure if Kia adjusted it differently to get better fuel effeciency, but the i20 felt faster to drive. I preferred the looks of the rios newer interior over the i20,but then again I like the exterior of the i20 over the rio. other than that they are pretty much the same car.

Daniel Sargeant did you try one ? I was hyped about it untill I drove one. that engine felt boring and noisy, and the car isnt very practical as far as space goes, and while I really like the looks of it, the engine made it lose its appeal to me.

The Corsa should've been among the best , and in this list the Clio and Yaris should've been there too , and even the Sandero for its very good price. Hyundai i20 , seriously? And i'm still wondering about Jazz

Vlad Presecan the i20 does pretty much everything better than the corsa in my opinion. More passenger space, more reliable (as far as statistics go) bigger boot, better driving experience (at least if you get the 1.0 turbo) , better warranty, more mature looks also whats wrong with the Jazz ? its a bit boring to drive, but they made their points clear, its by far the most reliable and practical small car on the market.

I don't like cars that are boring to drive , and i think the way a car looks is subjective , being a supermini space should not be the first aspect to look at and the interior design is also very important , that is why i don't like all that much the Honda Jazz , instead of it i would buy a B-max if reliability is the most important , but the B-max drives very good compared to its competitors , Jazz is more like a small MPV , this is why a compared it to the B-max. Even tough , i think you're right in the case of the i20 , and i can't believe i said that the Sandero should've benn there :)))))

Vlad Presecan you cant compare the two, first of all the B-max costs ALOT more than the jazz, and the jazz STILL has a bigger boot, also the Ford B-max is not nearly as reliable as honda (read about the jazz reliability). so Honda Jazz wins all those 3, unless you like paying more for less. not everyone cares about how fun cars are to drive, some just want a reliable, cheap, roomy family car, the jazz checks all those boxes. the "fun" cars in the lower pricerange never seem to be fun to drive, so I guess it depends on what people prioritise. my point is that the jazz, in that pricerange, is the most practical and reliable car there is, and Im guessing thats why it made the list,

Vlad Presecan the corsa, clio and yaris probably didnt make the list because none of them Excel at anything, theyre all just good allrounders. I hate driving both the yaris and the Corsa, to be honest I prefer the driving experience of the Jazz over the Yaris.

Mossboy16 best is relative. to a new small family that doesnt drive much; the cheapest most reliable, most practical car would probably be the best for them. usually cars are rated by a combination of driving experience, value for money, comfort, practicality, reliability and safety. The mini wont make the list often combining all those, its more of a luxury car compared to what people are normally looking for when they want a small car
