@Maxie Plays RPGs The switch version has some really big improvements so I'd recommend that version. There's a proper navigation system and quest markers which makes exploring a lot better as it's practically impossible to get lost no matter where you are on the map. There's also expert mode which allows you to lower your level at will if you feel like you're too overpowered which is super useful for those people who are used to the PS2 era of grinding. Recently i was thankfully able to get the Rainfall Trilogy Collection (Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, Last Story) wish i could get the other games, but they all cost like $150-300 here in Australia... guess i have to rely on emulation or hope for a remaster/remake.

I played Tales of Symphonia New Dawn on PS3. I actually enjoyed it but couldn't beat the last bosses. As for emulation: a better solution is to get a Wii and hack it 👍 In my opinion, it's better than a hacked Wii U but the hacked Wii U is another option to play these expensive games.

I was never interested in collecting for the Wii when it came to JRPGs due to the fact I didnt have a Wii nor was into collecting for this platform during its relevant period. There are clearly some games of interest here. Pandoras Tower is one of them but wow is there a pretty disturbing premise here. Arc Rise I have heard is very hard, well that sounds good to me. I watched Super Derek play this on Twitch and I'm def interested. Sakura Wars I have had many chances to pick up for PS2 at conventions and passed it up and now wish I didnt. Really would like to try this and have the new one so these games will get played. Last Story is the most intriguing in this list. I wish I hadnt waited on this one either. ah yes the pain I feel for not getting so many games years ago.....Great List!

The Wii was actually my favorite console of that generation for the first five years, until the PS3 got its explosion if RPGs in the 2010s. Shiren hasn't been rereleased to my knowledge Chocobo's Dungeon has been remastered for PS4 and Switch as Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Everybuddy. Pandora's Tower is also available on Wii U digitally. Also, you can play it with the Classic Controller and no motion control. Muramasa was also remastered for the Vita, with a new English localization and extra content. Arc Rise Fantasia sadly hasn't been rereleased at all. It really needs to be. Dawn of the New World is included alongside the original Tales of Symphonia on PS3 as part of Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Xenoblade Chronicles is available on 'new' 3DS (not the regular 3DS), Wii U and has a wonderful remaster with new content on Switch. Sakura Wars: So Long My Love is also available for PS2. Sadly, neither version has been rereleased. The Last Story has also, sadly, never been rereleased. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, once again, has never been rereleased. Can we get a Radiance HD Collection please, Nintendo?!

The last story was a title I just saw at gamestop and picked it up with a few games just cuz it looked vaguely interesting, it was, had fun with it, only thing is there was a specific boss that you face on essentially a tiny balcony and I only beat it because I glitched back into the previous room and just shot the boss through the wall, kinda cheap, completely on accident, but I mean

As a PAL Region Gamer, we got screwed over many times because of Nintendo always Region Locking their consoles in the day. So many JRPGs that came out to North America, if they didn't get into Europe or PAL region then I would not be able to play them on my Nintendo console. So it was strange how we got 3 of the Operation Rainfall JRPGs (Xenoblade, Last Story and Pandora's Tower) on the Wii during its final years in the market before the Wii U was released and those in North America had to wait months or years afterwards because of Nintendo of America's stupidity. Thankfully Nintendo of Europe went above and beyond with localizing those 3 Operation Rainfall games and I got them as soon as they were available for Pre Order when I realized what a big deal it was.

For anyone looking for a JRPG to play I highly recommend any game on the Trails series. Personally I started with Trails of Cold Steel. Only look up the trailer for Cold Steel 1 though. There are a total of 4 games in the Cold Steel arc and all of them take place within a few years of each other. If your not sold after watching that trailer you could check out the trailer for Cold Steel 3, it will include some spoilers but the trailers for Cold Steel 2 and 4 will spoil even more so absolutely do NOT look at those before you’ve played 1 and 3 respectively.

I bought Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn on day one. Pre-ordered it even. But it was so freaking hard!! So I sold it. I didn't find out about that glitch about the difficulty until many years later. If I knew, I might've actually enjoyed the game and not have sold it.

The only thing that make me stop playing fire emblem was that I got 2 lvl up from a char and he didn´t receive any kind of attribut up, so hp, attack, def, etc was the same from 2 lvl before!!! that was craze, this game is difficult as hell and I didn´t lvl up any bit?

Hi Erick, we have very similar taste in videogames but your passion and love for the Last Story always puzzled me. I found it an extremely mediocre (5 out of 10) game full of good ideas but terrible execution: 1) having Uematsu doing the music to then almost force it to quit (good job Sakaguchi!) 2) all that grey in the game that, I think, it was an attemp to give a sense of "artish" to the game but it made sometimes difficult to tell Yurick from the background. Beyond making the world forgatteble and bland 3) the combat system that it was ment to be a strategic system revolving around the ideas of chaos and order and, in the end, it is just boring action because the cameras are terrible, the game is easy, the bosses have a specific way to be killed and with the notmal enemies the plan is just lure them with the protagonist while the others attack 4) the plot is bad and boring. Poor guy and rich girl fall in love with almost no reason, together they save the country. All the characters are extremely mono-dimensional and the two main characters are the worst characters in the game. Only two characters will actually leave a memory: Syrenne and Lowell 5) high level of character customization. Too bad that the most powerful armor in the game is simply horrible and having it visible during the cut-scenes makes it all truly cringe. And many other issue. It is not a critique to your channels or to you, nor a "you don't understand anything about video games!! Gne, gne, gne", I am simply intrigued by how different are our opinions of this game and I would love to discuss the subject with you. That's all. Everyone has their taste and preference and that's fine. I am just curious. You and Metal Jesus Rocks are my two favorite video game channels. So this is definitely not meant to be a criticism of you. It is undoubtedly a criticism of the game but not of you. Thanks again for your work and I hope you will find the time to respond. Soon.

I had given up on Radiant Dawn but only just went back and finished it last week. Glad I did but man it was a fucking slog at times , if you don't want anyone to die. If you are going to play it I suggest going the emulation route and abusing the hell out of save states. I also made upscaled textures for the game, which really improves things.

I have it only and he is not that hard. Only the hard mode (maniac in Japan) is really difficult. The normal mode (hard in japan) is pretty normal and the easy mode is really too easy you can destroy the map with one character x)

Arc Rise Fantasia is one of my favs here. Tetris block placing passive effects from various weapons, shared limited resource of party's total action points and pretty good JRPG story. Sure the english dub 95% sucks buut still worth playing. This hidden gem needs a switch port (add JP VA selection too unless its redubbed lol).

to be fair, by what was going on with the localization its a wonder it didnt die while at it. I mean after XSeed Games "lost" their rights to Ignition Entertainment US which made the game like it is. It also didnt spent time to match the lipsync for the US dub at all so.. But besides that: I like the voices of Cecille, Rastan, Serge & Leslie the most, next to Ignacy & Saura

I may be in the minority here but The Last Story was a bit of a let down for me. I have a handful of people whose opinions on games I really trust and they overwhelmingly told me the story+characters were all time greats. I couldn't disagree more when I played it. It was all just run of the mill stuff for me. The gameplay is where that game really stood out, but I was told by the same people that it was a bit frustrating to play and they only stuck with it because of the plot and characters. It's a good game and I had fun playing it, but it's always been over hyped by the people who love it.

For some reason he compared xenoblade to its switch version. Which isn't fair since this is a Wii list. Compared to other wii games, xenoblade chronicles is clearly #1. And in all honesty the original still holds a place in my heart because of the non anime character models and excellent voice acting.

@@kerozine819 well we love it so much because the world bulding and world itself is brilliant. The voice acting is amazing, the characters are actually people who you believe can save the world considering their maturity, and the story is simply the best. Takes twists and turns that are well written. Xenoblade Chronicles is quite possibly the greatest JRPG ever made due to how well rounded and balanced everything is. Its an almost perfectly crafted game. PS: the switch version is better since it tweeks some of the minor gameplay issues the first one had, but it didn't change much in the overall quality of the experience.
