I'm sure you know that there's libraries of books written to refute every one of your claims. If the apostles didn't write it you don't want it? What about when Paul tells us to holdfast to the traditions given either written or spoken? There's only 2 churches that can trace those oral traditions back to the apostles. This is the problem with sola scriptura, you can't even follow it and scripture because scripture tells you to follow those traditions as well. Nowhere in the new testament does it say "believe only what is written down" nor does it tell you the cannon of scripture. Nor does it tell you how to interpret. In fact, scripture promotes learning from the apostolic tradition. Peter warns the church that people twist Paul's writings. Philip and the eunuch who could not understand what he was reading in scripture. The passage about how to settle disagreements, it doesn't say look to the scripture for your answer. It says to take the matter before the church to settle. Let's say you and I have an argument about the blessed virgin mary. You show me your scripture and link a scholar and I'll do the same. I'd bet every dollar I'll ever make that I wouldn't convince you no matter how much scripture and references I brought. What does scripture then tell us to do? We bring it before the church to settle. Which church, yours, mine, a vote of all the Christians on a website? It's obvious scripture intended for there to be one church that could settle the dispute. There's only 2 that go back to the apostles. Until protestants and their endless chain of new denominations came around 500 years ago this passage still worked. Thanks to you guys the church is now crippled from one of its scriptural functions. How do you thinknsola scriptura worked before the printing press anyway? A single copy of Roman's would cost a church like $2000 in today's money. A full set of scripture in the first century would be astronomically expensive. Thanks to sola scriptura anyone can interpret the Bible however they want. Yay now we have dooms day rapture denominations, jehovahs witnesses, universalists, 7th day Adventists, a dozen variations of pentacostals, calvinists, prosperity gospel preachers, and millions of people that think all you need to do is believe Jesus existed and they get to go to heaven. Who can tell them they're wrong? They interpret scripture differently everyone has the same authority and it's telling everyone contradictory things. Sola scriptura is the most demonic doctrine of the protestant belief system. It's so satanic because you think you're just doing what the Bible tells you. Everyone thinks the best bet is just do what the Bible says. Jesus says go and sin no more... is this an impossible command? I asked a protestant friend this question.... his response is like when I tell my kids clean your room. I don't expect them to clean every crumb and Cobb Webb. I said good thought but imagine you just cleaned the room spotless and you tell your kids don't make a mess. You come home and there's 1 thing on the floor you might brush it off. 5 mistakes oh well.
