I live in Brisbane, Australia and I personally feel that it is one of the most liveable cities and very peaceful with a low population but still has all the big city amenities. Probably what Sydney/Melbourne used to be 20 years or so ago. Its all about the branding on a global scale - that Sydney and Melbourne are the best cities in Australia so they're growing rapidly at 100k+ people added per year and that is contributing to rising house prices. Brisbane is relatively more affordable on that front and does have exciting places such as the Goldcoast and the Sunshine Coast on its doorstep. Not to mention the fantastic all-year round sunny weather. It is only lacking in public transport and infrastructure and a bit of entertainment/culture but that is soon to change in the lead up to the 2032 Olympics with Queens Wharf, Brisbane Metro, Waterfront Brisbane and Cross River Rail.

I was in Brisbane. I couldn't find a job because i didn't have a permanent resident visa and my english seem not good enough. But, the life there was just amazing : clean, safe, very beautiful natural places, low population, the spirit of village in a little big cbd. Yet today, that looks pretty worse and worse.... It's full latino immigrants, they have some technic to stay in Australia and get the visa to work easily. Brisbane begins to get packed, less safe. It's really hard to find a no-high rent for a house or flat because there are a lot of flatshare for immigrants and foreign students.

@@kugul1683 well yes I do see your point. There are some places in Australia with not even 30,000 people and they call it a city. It really depends what you think. I mean places with 200,000 people aren’t even classified as a city to some people. It just really depends what people think. For example the USA has about 50 cities with over a million whereas Australia only has 5. So yes I do see your point.

Queensland 3 cities in the top 10 all fell like greater Brisbane but with separate population stats. Perths metropolitan area stretches 125km on the coast if it did the same in Brisbane it would go from Brisbane’s most northern suburb Bridgeman downs, past the Gold Coast and 25km into NSW to Hastings point no wonder all 3 cities are needed for the Olympics. Then again if all 3 cities were counted as 1 city it would still be the third largest Melbourne and Sydney are just beasts! 😮
