Invest in ammo that you have guns for: 22lr, 22WMR, 25ACP, 9mm, 38/357, 45ACP, 223/556, 7.62x39, 308/7.62x51, 3006. If you have 30 Carbine or 30/30, add those also. That would be more than enough calibers.

If you are considering a firearm of a different caliber than you have, include that, too. Group ammo into 'target', self-defense, and specialty ammo. Maintain a set amount for each and rotate. I've done that since the mid-70s, and it's worked for me.

Agreed!! I'm stocking up on what calibers I have. 450 bushmaster and 45 colt are stupid expensive. Depends on where you go. I've seen 45 colt selling for $50 to $70 for a box of 50 depending on the brand. 450 bushmaster isn't much better. I seen them selling for $40 to $60+ for a box of 20. I seen 410 selling for $30+ for the shells that have a slug and two 00 buckshot pellets in it. Just plan stupid!!!

Was taught to carry basic military and law enforcement use. So, I carry 45 ACP and 12 gauge. But, also 22 lr for hunting and self defense. My long gun is 30-30 right now but going to purchase a 5.56mm or 7.62*51. When asked, I suggest 9 mm and 357 mag. Most people won't think of grabbing ammo when chaos hits. But the government will have bulk supply. That is my opinion

I have a .357 Marlin lever action rifle. One guy told me they only make them for pistols. Lol.

I guess getting 5 out of 10 calibers right is acceptable to someone, but the biggest flaw in their reasoning is the 300 blackout which hardly anyone shoots on a regular basis! Stick with most of the older calibers and you won't go wrong!
