The most memorable of which was when my opponent brought out a power-bonded Cyber End Dragon, I flipped the Scarecrow, stopped the attack, and they took the 4000 recoil damage. Then I proceeded to fusion summon Performapal Gatlinghoul next turn, gunned the dragon down, and wiped out their remaining life points!

By the way, Yugi in the anime definitely used Sword of Revealing Light for its stalling ability, the pattern was for him to hope to draw into an answer to the opponent board and usually getting on the third turn (a variation of his "heart of the card" bit that had some success in making it feel more fair and earned since it took him some actual digging and strategy to get more cards instead of just his one draw for turn).

I had an idea. The top 10 cards of a certain year, starting from the beginning. It would give a good idea and emphasis on how the meta was at the time to new and old players alike, while showing how the game shifted. For example: Top 10 cards of 2002. Top 10 cards of 2003. Top 10 cards of 2004. Etc. This also adds variety to the videos as it helps with the power creep that makes once powerful cards irrelevant. We can see how the meta shifted and how cards like Cyber Dragon popping up on the scene ended up changing things.
@lucaskendysilva15522 жыл бұрын
I think this is a great idea! However, I believe that would make for very long series of videos. Instead, what about a series of "best cards of each master rule" or maybe "best cards from each five years"? I think that would serve the same purpose as you suggested, but would make the videos even more entertaining and purposeful.
@InfiniteTranscendence2 жыл бұрын
@@lucaskendysilva1552 That isn't a bad idea either. I wasn't expecting him to do them all at the same time, but rather alternating a bit like he did with the banned cards list. I think with each Master Rule you would only get a few cards which would make it hard for people to understand the history of the game. You would just see the same old cards we always see on the list and I thought it would be interesting to see some older stuff that was viable at one point. Another channel did an amazing video on Yu Gi Oh's early history and I think Duel Logs would be perfect for narrating it. It's interesting seeing how the game changed so much over the years and I think it would encapsulate it well. Just my opinion though. Thanks for your response!
@lucaskendysilva15522 жыл бұрын
Now that you said it, yes I agree that making by game rule would be "more of the same", since we would probably be seeing same cards we already see very often on other top 10. Indeed, I now agree with you that making them by year would be the best way, but I still think the time frames could be a little longer (maybe "best out of 3 years"), so that the audience also does not get tired of the videos. Anyways, thanks for the opinions and the politeness! Let's hope duellogs maybe see our comments and consider our ideas. Have a great weekend ahead!

Funnily an interesting card that could've made this list is The Golden Swordsoul. From the Albaz structure, it may not be played in Branded or Swordsoul, but it's actually generically a pretty decent attack negater, stopping an attack and summoning itself from the hand, then having a few additional effects if you're playing it in Swordsoul or Branded. I personally feel that Phantom Knights' Fog Blade is one of the best trap cards that can be used to stop attacks. Yes, you need a single monster on your field to activate for stalling, but it doesn't require a direct attack to activate. It does come with a downside of negating monster effects too, but you could use that effect of the card to your advantage... giving the card some versatility. Say your opponent has a card immune to destruction through its' effect, but doesn't possess targeting immunity (from spell/trap and/or any), then you can put the card on your opponent's card and then pop it. The only thing you can't use the card for is getting past battle destruction immunity since neither player can target the card for attacks.

Probably doesn't meet the technical definition of "stopping attacks" but a really potent and underrated card is Rise to Full Height, makes it so your opponent can only attack one monster on your field but you can circumvent that attack from taking place by targeting a monster that is about to be destroyed or removed in some other way. Because while it has these two slight advantages over threatening roar (can only be negated by other counter traps and synergizes with counter trap support) that's not worth its biggest downside: it can only be activated during the battle phase. Threatening Roar or even Waboku can be activated at any time and can even be chained to their own destruction, meaning if an opponent activates a spell/trap removal during their main phase, you can actually chain a Waboku or Threatening Roar to still stop all attacks for that turn, something that Negate Attack can't do.

@dancostello48722 жыл бұрын
Except Links can't go into DEF so they'd still be able to attack, and that distinction alone is enough to stop it seeing widespread play, because Links are the most generic & most commonly played ED monster. I’m surprised. Utopia is not here. Granted, the attack negation is often for the double or Nothing!

It's a long shot, but that intro music sounds so familiar. I can't quite pinpoint where it's from.

Back then, I used to think Swords of Revealing Lights was one of the best Spell Cards even thanks to the anime.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Waboku alongside Threatening Roar or something. Waboku didn't technically prevent battle, but it did protect your monsters and your life points from battle for the entire turn, so it was very similar to Threatening Roar, though it could be activated once battle had already begun. (Also, if two monsters with equal Attack battle, the Waboku user's monster would survive, while the opponent's would still die.)

I use Waboku in Dueling Nexus. Very underrated card. I use to use it a ton back in the day. It's old but gold. Still highly effective. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's still isn't good. I hate how people just forget about these cards because they are older.

Some cards like Swords of Revealing Light may not fit into the game that Yugioh has become, but it was definitely cool for the time.

Top Ten Cards that make you go Negative. There's gotta be a handful of cards with effects so powerful that even though their cost technically makes you go negative, they're actually worth the loss.

while i understand why cyber valley didn't quite make the list how did scrap iron scarecrow make the list but not negate attack since one only stops one attach the other stops the attack and then ends the battle phase

Just imagine if Swords of Revealing Light left the field when it was activated but the effect lingered till it was supposed to end. Would there be a way to negate that?
@MrCegeb2 жыл бұрын
Negate the activation at the first time should do it. Similar to negating Final Countdown or Eradicator Epidemic Virus (both are lingering)
