Rocking it! Forget NAS. Everybody's doing it but that's a separate thing for a separate list. IBs put an age statement, and their primary thing is young CS releases. Age statements matters. Just today I found GA batch 3 and Laph10 batch 10 at the right price! I wish I could be happy spending my whole budget on one old bottle, like Laph25 but where's the fun in that? So I look for the $100 bottles that hit all the boxes, and the age really determines the final value.

Not a fan of the trend with NAS cask strength bottles. The Glendronach batch 8 did give an age on the back of the tube. My two favorite CS bottles this year were the new versions of Arran quarter cask (bothy), and Arran Bodega sherry cask. Both are reasonably priced and am told that Arran will tell you the age if you contact them. The Bodega especially is my replacement for the declining Abunad with a good price and Arran states on the bottle they age in sherry hogsheads. These smaller casks give more wood surface contact for a more complex maturation of younger whisky. Cheers Rob

8:00 alright all non aged bourbons are 2 year ? Or even less than 2 year old ? leaving BIB and straight ? As u mention non aged scotch are 3 year as u assume .

Just saying we are allowed to assume that. They’re often much older.

I spent a solid decade only drinking bourbons before I moved into scotch. I think having some flights with wildly different whiskies was what really showed me the potential. Definitely worth a try, and if you just want to stick to bourbon, there's nothing wrong with that either. I still love my Four Roses Single Barrel (if only it still existed here on the West Coast).
