@therealz 360z Get hot and spicy cayenne pepper,and place it in an empty salt shaker. Sprinkle it on all your plants, after you water them. It will not hurt your plants. BUT ALL THE CRITTERS WILL STAY AWAY. Cheap and effective.

I recommend subscribing to seed companies. I get emails from Baker Creek and Fruition Seeds and they regularly send me emails about what to plant now or it's too late to plant info.

i suppose I was expecting this too in this video. I am going to look up the harvest time of these and count back to find good planting dates for my zone. perhaps he did not say when, because it will vary by zone. for example if something takes 45 days to harvest and ripens just before frost, youd need to know when your weather is cool enough to plant, while being warm and sunny enough to grow, and then giving time to get down in tempt enough to ripen/harvest. Also if they are simply cold hardy, they could be planted periodically in coolor months for regular harvest. talking outloud lol.

I find that green onions/scallions/garlic type of plants, do fine in cool weather also. And as far as green onions go, they can be harvested fairly fast.

Best cold remedy I was given, fry off then boil carrots, potatoes onion garlic and chillis. Add a little flour to thicken with a stock cube and you have a bug busting soup. It works. Add in a bit of ginger for an additional zing.

I would seriously appreciated if you could you make a video on How to correctly over winter perennials? Herbs Strawberries Raspberries Etc. You said thyme, oregano and sage are perannials, but I live in ND, Zone 5 and they have never come back for me. With the exception of my strawberries, I covered them and straw last year and they came back beautifully.

Great info! I’ve been trying to be more self sufficient, growing greens alone helps a lot. Looking into the summer winter, I live in zone 6 at 7000ft. I don’t want to loose this “ball that I have rolling”. Do you think a greenhouse can be use as a “ fridge” if I keep the temperature right above freezing and adding grow lights? I learned about cilantro the hard way. I thought it was a warm weather crop since it's used in a lot of Asian dishes. But I saw that my cilantro kept bolting in the heat. Now it's the fall I'm growing it again for a second try.

I have never grown lettuce, i will have to try it. I have carrots in the ground right now. I just learned last year have to keep them in the ground 2 years to get seeds from them. You can eat the carrot greens, they are stronger flavored and have more nutrients in them than the root. Nations with a French background usually have good carrot green recipes. I put them in soups and smoothies.

Cover the garlic and it will do wonderful! Make sure the soil is nice and rich and loose or it won’t get as large. Here in Georgia without my soil loosely fluffed my cloves were always pretty small. Love garlic! I have some coming up from planting it last year already. Started coming up on its own in July 🤷🏻‍♀️

Carrots, beets and turnips, like parsnips get better tasting if left in the ground until after the first freeze. The cold temps cause sugars in the root veggies to release.

Absolutely true, as an added bonus if and when possible the greens should be collected prior to the main crop (carrots, turnips, etc.) Simply delicious! Personally I've got a really weak spot for turnip greens! :-)

Been saving my old heads from the grocery store. They re-root in water. I buy it for my rabbit (NOT poisonous iceberg!!) And i enjoy having different types to grow and so does he. Omg the tip on cilantro explains so much. I grow that too....embarassingly in the wrong season. I LOVE beets. Pickled with a little sweet brine and cinnamon, vanilla, and cloves are AMAZING Carrots: bourbon glazed carrots are soooooo good. Chef John has a good video on them. The greens are absolutely Delicious!!!! Such a delicate and beautiful microgreen packed with perfect carrot flavor. Potatoes....why not?

Also brussel sprouts I would think. Planted green beans, carrots, & beets Sept 10. So far so good but somethings chewing on the beans. They're healthy so should be ok. I live in Southern Michigan and want to plant spinach. Had to buy cilantro for my salsa, never knew it was a fall crop! Had to buy dill for my pickles too, didn't get around to planting any VERY unfortunately. Have been cutting the sunflowers as they mature (different kinds), and there's always too many cucumbers! Got 4 beautiful pumpkins but the tomatoes were small. The cabbage & brussels got ate up. Will put panty hose on the next crop to keep worms off. Gooseneck gourds are just now filling out. The garden looks so sad now -- but just think, in 5 more months can start seeds!

my beets failed to put on a beet or actually sizeable greens. I did not start inside but from seeds. zone 6b. I think it is the soil as i am still building it from clay. i am watching this again as i did in the late summer to see if there were any tips. If there is a "how to grow in late summer through early winter" that i may have scrolled over please point me in that direction. I am zone 6b and believe that i could garden year around if i had the desire to do so. Maybe take jan and feb off.

I’m not a huge radish fan but I just planted some because the girl on Roots &refuge says she put olive oil salt and pepper on them and then broils them in the oven...., and I never thought of cooking them, but she said it’s really good!
