Yeah there are plenty of other vamp Commander's but I don't think I'd say that they have pros that are equivalent to what Edgar brings to the table.

I agree. Stefan is pretty good, but being able to populate the board so quickly with Edgar is much better.

@@wraithalcon I think that depends what you want to do with your deck. Edgar's better in terms of raw power, but Strefan lets you run a lot of the splashy expensive vampires that are too slow for Edgar.

Kaalia has the advantage of they keep printing support for her since like every set is gonna have a dragon, demon, and/or angel.

Ever since 2016, I've loved Yidris as an option. It's beautiful how open-ended he is as a commander, to the point that I've built him as Chaos, Larceny, and with the recent support for the mechanic, built to lean more into cascade. He'll probably always be my favorite commander

A friend build yidris as a 4 color zombie tribal deck that had a surprising amount of legs. It was pretty easy to resolve a living death that lets him kill the board

Been loving my Prossh since 2013 and with a few tweaks it's still strong even in a fast 1v1 format such as Centurion Commander. In fact, I placed 6th over 32 players at a National qualifier Lv 1 last Sunday where most of the meta was Shorikai, Grist, Tymna/Thrasios and its variants, Geist and crazily strong control decks. Most important part: it's kind of a glass cannon, but also superfun to play every single time.

I mean prossh just feels so linner though. Ramp ramp ramp ash alter can your comander 69 times goblin bombardment the table. I've seen it so many times it's just not fun looking at like viasvictus asmadi and zaotora have something interesting there trying to do not just combo and win.

I really like prossh been playing it for 8 years was also my first commander deck, I still like it because it doesn’t have the reputation of a korvold even though it is also really powerful

It did have a bad rep for quite a while. Prosh foodchain was the thing to fear for a good while. I guess now korvold did over shadow prosh a bit, but he is still a combo engine. I would be quite surprise to not see Prosh be removed on sight by any veteran player

Tasigur, Prossh and Nekusar are all commander decks I have built and will never get rid of. Love them for their uniqueness and/or flexibility.

Ur Dragon aged well simply because of new dragons making the dragon tribal theme that much more scary: Terror of the Peaks playing as a second Sourge of Valkas Goldspan Dragon and Old Gnawbone providing ramp Iymrith, Desert Doom playing as a second Dragonlord Ojutai and with the second D&D set, more dragons are going to help this deck.

started my 5 color dragon deck in like 2011 with scion of the ur dragon and it was rough to build because of lack of good dragon support, swapped to ur dragon when that deck came out and now with all the support the deck has a critical mass point it can reach quickly and just go nuts. Been running Kaalia since she came out as well and prossh a little bit after he came out. all of these decks are still together being used still, 3 of my fav decks.

I use him in a villainous wealth combo deck, and I love it, filling my graveyard with lands, use that saga that returns all lands to the battlefield from the graveyard? And then boom. Villainous wealth where X is like 30.

That's a long long list. Power creep is very evident for commanders especially. Many of the decks that I built 2 years ago can barely win games any more. My very first commander was Adun Oakenshield, I built him in 2008. I eventually stole the mana base and used it for a Vaevictus Asmadi, the Dire because Adun value was no longer a viable option.

Basically anything over 5 mana not in green. Have fun setting up for 8 turns, getting your commander obliterated immediately (since the big bois have the double burden of costing a fuckton AND presumably being worth that price which makes them something your opponents will definitely want to save an answer for), then losing to a 1 card infinite next turn.

I would have to say that The first Sliver is, in my opinion, much better than The Sliver Overlord. It's been my experience that anytime you come to the table with Slivers, you are the primary target. While Overlord does give you access to your key slivers, it can rake time and you are limited in your mana output. The First Sliver allows you to completely overwhelm the board in as little as 1 turn before an opponent can get thru there turns and find a response.

Tasigur was the first cEDH Commander I built around 2018, became my favorite instantly, first time I enjoyed playing blue in my life. Since then, Sultai has become one of my favorite 3-color combinations, been tweaking that deck as my prime commander ever since.

I used to have a Zur rebels deck. It used Zur to tutor up cards like Arcane Adaptation and Training Grounds so that my rebels could tutor up any creatures with useful ETB effects for next to no cost. I ended up dismantling the deck because it was too strong for my playgroup. As we've started getting spoilers for Baldur's Gate, I've been considering building a new Zur deck around background enchantments.

Meren was the first Commander Deck I build 6 years ago. I have made some changes over the past years, but not many. But I can still whip her out from time to time and I mostly win with her :) But I played her so much back in the day, that I rarely do it :D

I have a Kaalia deck, always changing angels, dragons and demons around. One of the best commander options out there, if you like stuff like master of cruelties and other nasty beaters.

I've always made dragon tribal with scion of the ur-dragon instead. I've always found it the superior option. Its cheaper, it tutors and opens the option to reanimate and heavily discount the cost of those expensive dragons.

I think Zur might be the first commander I fell in love with. You can take it in endless directions. Superfriends, stax, cycling, rebels, cEDH, Voltron etc. I love it. Close second for me is kess for similar reasons. I instantly loved the scarab god but I've been struggling to build a deck I'm happy with

I use Riku as a RG spellslinger commander I have very few blue sources in the deck just in case I want to cast him because I feel he's still better than Wort being cheaper and not needing tokens to copy stuff

One major problem with Edgar is that Eminence is so effectively broken that I've had players flat out refuse to play against it. Either I'm asked to play a different deck, or they leave the table. My regular pod banned all the Eminence commanders. Even the designers at WotC have admitted most of the Eminence commanders were a mistake with Edgar being the biggest of all. Funny enough, plenty of the most popular Commanders are considered design mistakes at WotC like Edgar, Yuriko, and Prosper.

Edgar Markov probably will be the top tier Vampire commander for eternity. I disagree that the other Vampire options are even close to Edgars level. Evelyn and Strefan are ok, but there isnt a ton of support for blood tokens, and Evelyn wants vampires to work but i dont know if id call her a true tribal commander. Xenagos god of revels in my opinion has aged well and will always be a good commander

The support for Blood tokens comes in the form of general artifact support. Both those commanders also have a major bonus over Edgar depending on where and who you play with. Specifically, my regular pod hated Edgar so much that I wasn't allowed to play him. People at the LGS would often ask me to change decks or just get up and leave the table when I dropped him. Doesn't happen with the other two.

​@@vornsuki there are only 27 red/black cards that create a blood token in some way. At least a third of those are mediocre at best. Most of the rest are just one and done. The only "good" artifacts that create blood tokens are the Glass-Cast Heart and Ceremonial Knife. So no there really isnt enough support for blood tokens. Yes people hate Edgar because of the value he gives but he is still the best option for an actual vampire commander.

@@thedanath While all that is true for Blood tokens in specific, there is a metric boatload of support in R/B for Artifacts in general due to Treasures and Artifact Burn. Plenty of folk slide cards like Reckless Fireweaver and Cranial Plating into Strefan. Best is contingent on circumstance, which includes being allowed to play him at the table through outright house bans or being asked not to play the deck.

I builded a Kaalia the vast deck and Jared deck and Atraxa. If i play with those 3, Atraxa overpower everyone. If you think Atraxa is dead, she comes in to play. Put a counter on it, pro it at the end. It's a 6/6. Incredible, i played maybe 10 times agains Avancy, i only lost 2 times. Put some copy creatures, counterspells. And youre opponent can't do anything anymore. And i don't play Infect with Atraxa. If i do, my opponent has no change.

I'd gladly challenge you on the best colorless commander. I'd say that crown goes to karn. He is a combo machine but you can also just make super fun decks with him that just beat cheeks.

Brago is still real good but his real competition is probably Yorion who can also blink more than 1 permanent at a time. Also Yorion can loop but is less consistent that Brago's combat damage trigger

3 I think you are mistaken on. 1. Edgar is easily the most powerful Vampire, not even debatable 2. Scion of the Ur-Dragon is superior to Ur-Dragon, cheaper, toolbox commander, really shines with reanimation 3, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth vs Kozilek, the Great Distortion. I have had Kozi as a Commander for years. Annihilate is more powerful then the counter ability. The counter ability is dependent on you having the correct casting cost in hand. Annihilate always hits. Plus the card draw of OG Kozi is ALWAYS on line. Many times have I cart a Kozi with 5 cards in hand or more. Great Distortion nuts 1 or 2 cards. OG nets 4 each time.
