@@GGGG-jn7ib according to 2023 data their military spending is around $230b which accounts for about 1.7% of their GDP. For context The US is currently spending $760b on their military which is 2.8% of the US total GDP. So China would have to 3.3x their spending of their GDP or grow their GDP by 3.3x in the next 6.5 years, which seems unlikely since their GDP growth has stagnated around 8% growth pr year for the last 50 years. The US would ofcourse pickup on a 3.3x in spending in 6.5 years and respond in kind by increasing their spending aswell, like they did during the cold war.

I will truly never fathom the success of France and the United Kingdom in “ruling the world” with a combined population of 120 million. China and India make up 40% of the world, the USA have 350 million people etc. People always mention race but I am convinced it’s geography and climate; there are no devastating natural disasters, and the wildlife isn’t anywhere near as dangerous as other places Additionally, what concerns me is the factor that they both potentially became so powerful because of conflict with eachother; it forces you to adapt in order to reign supreme, and it’s depressing to think humanity requires a war in order to progress It’s even stranger when you look at Mongolia. 2nd largest empire in history with a population smaller than almost every one of our states. Turns out, most of Mongolia is within China, called “Inner Mongolia”. This is probably due to sinicization

Those are the current populations, in the early 1900s, these countries would've had a much lower population. Also, I believe it's likely that the UK formed the largest empire in history due to being on an island, this meant that in order to travel beyond the island, they had to develop naval technology. This naval technology allowed them to travel far distances much more easily, allowing for trade and invasions.

Populations were a lot smaller in the late 19th century and early 20th. I mean the population of the whole world in 1900 was just 1.7 billion. The main reason us Brits and the French got most of that land despite them having, in some cases easily 10x our population was because we had guns and they didn't when we first arrived. It perpetuated because we at the time just had the most money and the best military tech. I'm sure there were probably more things at play but those I would imagine were the main reasons we held on to all that land for as long as we did.

This video really shows you how during most of the second half of the 20th century their would be 2 global superpowers left on the World stage, and how that would change after 1989-1991 with the USSR's collapse ushering in a new age where there is only one sole superpower left on Earth (that superpower being the USA). Also the USA is an absolute money generator, as throughout almost all the wars they fought in they were able to through as much money as they wanted until said war was over, the US economy is just that powerful I guess.

Reason why US spending is so high is because there is no regulation. See in all other countries, companies have to bid on how cheap the contracts are to make a product. Thats then how they get the contract to supply a product. This doesnt happen in the US. The same is said on healthcare, there is no regulation, companies can charge what they like instead of bidding for how cheap they can make it. Theres no regulation over prices. I saw a vid once, they needed a part for a military vehicle of which the company charged the US military $20000 for but you can get the exact same part as a normal US citizen for like 100 bucks. Again no regulation to keep prices down, so companies will waaay overcharge the US military and the same with medical care vs insurance companies cos nothing is capped/regulated!
