I always got the impression in the original Mario Galaxy that she functioned as sort of a deity. The storybook is sort of an "ascension" story, and then after Bowser's Galaxy collapses and swallows the universe, there she is to recreate it again. I think why people hate Rosalina has to do with her being so popular and they don't have any clue why. Harry White Peach did once, But ya I enjoyed 3D world. heads up though it might "feel" like its not that great but it grows into a really great game, "you should definitely work at Nintendo haha" if only! X) that's something I'd love to do but for now I guess that's a dream. pretty much. I always viewed Rosalina as the Queen of the Universe rather than a princess. a Queen is the MOTHER of her family just like how Rosalina is the mother of all the stars in the sky. I love Rosalina, she reminds me of myself in some ways. If you think about it, she's also the Mario equivalent of a Goddess. she's Omnipresent by being able to convert herself into energy, (Cosmic Rosalina) to guide Mario when he is struggling to beat part of a level and spawn in multiple sections of the level in that form and is part of the universe able to take on many shapes.

#3 about the parallel version of Peach is not true. Yoshiaki Koizumi (the guy who wrote the story book.) once mentioned something like Rosalina was originally supposed to be related to Peach. People say it wasn't put in the game, but it was plainly there, you just had to open you eyes. Rosalina's story begins with "Our story begins a very, very long time ago..." Meaning she lived long before Peach was born. In the background in some parts of the story you can see a castle that looks like Mushroom Castle/Peach's Castle. She wears a crown throughout the whole story, meaning she did come from royalty. When she left with Luma, (and became immortal somehow,) her brother continued the line of royalty and generations later Peach was born. Now in her story book she says she wants to visit her HOME planet every one hundred years to nap in her favorite sleeping nook. At the very beginning of Super Mario Galaxy it talks about how a comet appears over the kingdom every one hundred years and they throw a Star Festival. That's why Rosalina and Peach look somewhat similar. They are related, just in a different way.
