Catherine was pregnant when she was filming. That's partly why it was so iconic
@shaldana Жыл бұрын
@@Msdinomite No, not because she was pregnant. Any idiot can get pregnant and use that as a platform for bigger headlines. It's iconic because, despite being pregnant, she worked her ass off and didn't do any less than anyone else. Being pregnant didn't make it iconic: Doing all of that without anyone knowing she was - that's the iconic part. She didn't ask for a pass or slack off or easier dance moves (let's face it: Fosse's routines are hell for dancers). She did them. All. Hours every day of practicing and doing routines, and then she won a fucking award for it. THAT's class, and THAT's iconic, and a well-deserved Oscar.

I absolutely LOVE 'Center Stage'!. The story, the cast (especially Zoe Saldana. I had no idea she was classically trained I. Ballet 🩰🥰) & the iconic ending number is amazing. And in the 'Cell Block Tango' my girl Mya (the last inmate) is in the number so that elevates my love for it to a ten. I'll need a part two because there a quite a few incredible routines that didn't make the list including: You Got Served: The Final Battle Save The Last Dance: The Final Audition Mamma Mia: The title dance Step Up 3: The water routine & the finale Step Up Revolution: The Art Exhibit n finale Chicago: They Both Went For The Gun Stomp The Yard: The Club Scene Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights- The competition Shall We Dance: The On The Spot Tango Happy Feet: Boogy Wonderland Burlesque: Express & Show Me How You Burlesque

Did you know that initially that the producers wanted Britney Spears for the Cellblock Tango in Chicago- which would have been awesome - but they realized that it would have been to much about her and pull focus from the film, so Mya got the part and killed it!

“Cell Block Tango” blew me away the first time I saw it in a theatre. It was stunning and incredibly well done, absolutely powerful. I finally picked my jaw up off the floor and got up to go get some popcorn. As I turned toward the back of the theatre I saw, lit by the screen, just about every man sitting frozen, stricken with shock. They looked as if they’d seen a ghost. I whispered “Surprise!” as I walked on by. I’m guessing that they had a rude awakening as to just how deep and bitter a woman’s fury can be. It’s been 20 years and that mass stricken look remains a vivid memory.

My top 3: 1. Center Stage - I saw it 4 times in the theater and use to work at a Dance Wear house store. I loved being able to point out all the extras who were in the movie that were professional Ballet dancers because their pictures for dance clothing campaigns were already hanging on the walls. 2. Honey - I actually purchased the song "I Believe" by Yolanda Adams on my ITunes specifically because of this movie and I picture the routine every time I hear it in my car. 3. Step Up ? - I forget which number it is but it's the one with the end routine where Moose is late and he rides in on his bicycle and hits the sprinkler and that bursts so they have to dance it on carpet, I believe, but it's water down now.

I don’t even really remember anything about those films. I would rank your honorable mentions of 500 days, 13 going on 30 or Honey over the ones you did include.
