Leomon and Wizardmon still hurt. Beelzemon in Tamers even accepted that Jeri may never forgive him (after Impmon reconciled with Ai and Mako, allowing him to digivolve into Beelzemon Blast Mode), but he still showed remorse and tried to help save her from the D-reapers. Keenan is in some way similar to Sasuke from Naruto. Came to hate a single person or all of humanity, only to find out that wasn't the pathway they were supposed to go down.

Here are a few I say had the most tragic deaths. Angemon: He sacrificed himself in order to destroy Devimon. Deckerdramon: After getting beaten to near death by Blue Flare, he protected everyone from Gravimon. Chuumon: He took the knife strike from Piedmon in order to protect Mimi. Meicoomon: She was put out of her misery after getting corrupted too many times. Shinegreymon: After suffering the Burst Mode gone wrong, he blew himself up in order to stop his own rampage. Bokomon. Was murdered mercilessly by Sealsdramon. That soon lead to Gammamon digivolving into the worst form ever.

It wouldn't work, Digimon is set in the real world and in Tokyo (with also detailed care in showing real locations from Tokyo too), while Pokemon is set in a fictional world with fictional towns/cities. I've always said it: Pokemon is the happy dream, while Digimon is the sad reality.

Leomon's death in Tamers was very tragic. Beelzemon killed him really ultimately scared and tramatized Jeri as She became part of the data of the D-Reaper that serves a purpose of destroying data.

Not to mention triggering Takato and Gilmon's rage and, thus, giving birth to Megidramon. The battle between Belzebumon (Nothing against the Dub name, but I'll stick with the origina, japanese names, thank you very much) and Megidramon wrecked a good portion of the Digital World, har repercussions on the material world and damn near killed everyone around the two battling Megas when the ground cracked due to how dangerous and destructive Megidramon's very presence was, along with the clash itself between Belzebumon and Megidramon. Tough, on the plus side, it did also set the stage for Dukemon's birth too so, silver linings and all of that.

Dozens of Digimon die throughout the series. Of the top of my head alone, the first Season alone has at least 17 deaths that I remember. But then they're just reborn. If you do want a permanent death, the yes, BlackWarGreymon would count since he was an artificial Digimon. A few Digimon in Digimon Savers get permanent deaths too.

I'm pretty used to Digimon dying, it's part of their lives, digimon for me is all about the vpet experience, you raise them, you train them, you watch them fight, you screw up their evolutions, you neglect them, they get injured and die early or you find their natural balance, and they survive way past their lifespan leaving behind a traited egg when they eventually go, but through this balance you get a new evolution each time without manipulation. I have one with me at all times, i take it with me when i go to work, when i go on walks, i much prefer this direct interaction and how much my daily life influeces or screws up their health and evolution compared to Pokémon.
