Like for example after Leomon was killed Jerry went into an intense episode of depression that spanned several episodes eventually having that void in her filled by darkness. As a kid seeing that type of dark depression experienced by Jerry was hard to process. Come to think of it several characters had depressive episodes like Matt, Black War Greymon, Cari, and Ken. All seeking to have a purpose and all falling into a nihilist void when they couldn't find it

Yeah, I can see why Myotismon outdoes Piedmon though. Myotismon had a lot of attention dedicated to him (including Season 02) and thus we got to see his power, his cunning, his cold-heartedness and evil, and how he was a true threat to the Chosen Children / Digi-Destined and both the real world and Digital World. Piedmon may have been a much stronger antagonist by comparison, but attention had to be widely split between him and the other three Dark Masters and it didn't really feel like we got to see a whole lot more to him BESIDES his general power whereas we got to see at least a bit of cunning, strategy, evil, etc. from the other three Dark Masters (killing their subordinates or allies of the Chosen Children, for example).

Aw man, I *loved* the D-Reaper so much. It seems like the most realistic depiction of a digital threat that also poses a major threat in the real world. It also carried a lot of dramatic weight with it, capturing Jeri and Calumon, and forcing the original Digital Monster coders back together to find a solution. It had some serious scope.

Even now that entire Arc is a horror movie a nightmare that I can't believe got past sensors but I absolutely love it as well it's essentially a horror movie but the characters are actually smart and the characters are facing an actual threat the d-reper was a near unstoppable force it took the power of 5 mega level digimons one of which is a royal night and even then they needed an upgrade from one of the top 10 strongest digital life forms there is and also the help of the four Digimon sovereigns just to take it down permanently it's an apocalypse level threat that could have destroyed the entire digital world and human world maybe even control creates and become Gaiamon

Oh, the memories. The first 4 seasons were a MASSIVE part of my childhood. I still remember how much it creeped me out as a kid when Piedmon was hunting everyone down and turning them into key chains one by one.

What made him truly evil is what he did to Oikawa. There is nothing more evil than turning a grieving and vulnerable person into one's own personal engine of destruction, murder, and child abduction and manipulation.

Black WarGreymon was my favorite character. He wasn't around that long, but his character had more depth than most main characters had. The kind of soul searching and whatnot was missing from much of the series.

Meh. Myotismon is easily the best villain of the franchise, but most of the other villains were rather lackluster. Honestly, Tamers, Xros Wars and maybe Frontier all have an overall higher quality roster of antagonists.

Etemon man .. he was just something else man. He was not only a comedic villain but he was almost a schizophrenic psychopath man. He definitely deserves to be number 2 only under Piedmon and Myotismon on number 3. Piedmon with the puppetguy were truly scary back in the time for a child like me at the time I watched it.

Myotismon is pretty much the one behind the whole crisis from season 2 of Digimon Adventures. Ken/Digimon emperor was manipulated by Arukenimon who was created by Oikawa who in turn was manipulated by Myotismon. I haven't seen the show since I was a kid but that's what I remembered.

I feel like D-Reaper should be higher on the list. it's simplicity in mindset made it scary. it fucked with their emotions: hell its humanoid form has similarities to Jerry (its hair and side ponytail; didnt even notice this for years til someone on youtube pointed it out). it made an empty doll that passed off as her for some episodes, it's lack of emotion being seen as Jerry being "broken" to a point Takoto admits his true feelings for her...but being a fake doll that only looks like Jerry, his words and feelings mean nothing to it; and the only response to his emotional speech is her reading off the nutrient facts on the back of the lunch box. just a _teensy_ bit unsettling. you couldn't reason with it. you couldn't change it's mind no matter how much you kept trying to prove it's view about humans was wrong. it messed with Jerry's emotions, feeding on her despair and thereby prolonging her grief from losing Leomon, forced her to remember the loss of her mother and capitalizing on her hidden fears of being alone, her loved ones taken away from her too soon when she could do nothing to prevent or stop it. and this started by Beelzemon's hand no less; whom by the way is the only one to kill off a main character. granted Leomon showed up later in the season, but he became part of the main cast, so I feel Beelzemon should've been a little higher on the list for that as well. that and his action made a big impact afterwards, _on _*_everyone there_*_, including himself_ . not for one episode of angst or mild sadness that could be erased with a few uplifting words, but for the remainder of the season, which still had more than 10 episodes to go at that point. I agree on number 1 being myotismon. poor oekalwa, I always cried with him at the end; his life long dream was to go to the digital world...and while he so close to achieving it, he never gets to physically transverse through it like the other digidestined. ever. the Dark Masters pushed the team to it's limits, but Piedmon actually whittled them down to the two youngest kids and came so close to beating everyone for real. later against apocolomon I'd like to think their tags and crests acted as backup storage, storing the data, memory, etc of each individual and their respective partner and all their digivolutions, including what each kid represented. in effect the kids were in the trash, but like some corrupted (infected) files, they reappeared, restored where they last were no matter how times you try to delete it.

I agree with you on the D-Reaper. I think it's partly why Season 3 is in a tough tie with Season 1 for me as my favorites. I felt like those seasons really dealt with some heavy issues. Season 2 does as well, but I think the other seasons just dealt with them better. To me D-reaper can also represent mental illness, especially depression.

What made Apocalymon terrifying was how elemental he felt. He was the natural result of the digital world's own evolution, thus he made sense as the final antagonist of the first series. The D-Reaper was the first villain that truly scared me though.

I love Digimon and some of the Antagonists were pretty tight. I think Kurata(Data Squad) and The D-Reaper(Tamers) needed to be a bit higher because how much they were a threat to both worlds. I can't say More to #1 and Daemon even though he was not shown as much, but even #1 was afraid of him.

He more of a grey charater, that stands in between light and darkness, thus BlackWarGreymon is pretty much a ani-hero, yet for the most part of the series he was a villian to the Digidestined, so he can be on this list, its just like Ken, he got redeemed but chose to pay the uiltmate price to prevent a great evil from entering the Digital World, much like Wizardmon paid the price to protect Gatomon & Kari

Well, S4 was tied with 02 for 2nd last place with 50 episodes, with Saver's claiming last place with 48. For reference, 01 had 54, and Tamers had 51.Spoilers for Frontier below: As much as I adore Frontier (was the Season I watched the most on morning TV, I liked the humans becoming the digimon thing, I liked the character relations and development), I think it felt longer because it had so much filler in the 2nd half. 1st half had 1 episode dedicated to a Spirit, and there was plenty of story set up to dedicate episodes to. Then the 2nd half of the season, majority of the episodes were the DigiDestined chasing after the Royal Knights and having their asses handed to them; although eventually story kicks in, being that the DigiDestined being human, they are able to grow naturally and become stronger, whereas the Royal Knights (being Data) can only grow following the laws of the Digital World - data absorption and powering up.

What made Myotismon truly merciless was his possession of Yukio Oikawa. He ruthlessly took over and manipulated a grieving man and turned him into little more than a slave, causing all sorts of havoc across both worlds, all the while unknowing of the dark force that caused him to commit the following acts of cruelty: 1. Manipulating Ken following his brother's demise. 2. Child abduction. 3. Blatantly breaking the barriers between of plains of existence. 4. Murder. 5. Torture. 6. Declaring war. And so much more. The fact that Oikawa was taken advantage of is what really irks me. Grieving and depressed people are the most vulnerable and easiest to control. Myotismon took a vulnerable person and made him commit a laundry list of atrocities for the digital Dracula's own insane ambitions, tossing him out like trash when he was done with him.

it also had actors who fit the characters and decided not to insult the audience by leaving the setting in japan. Also go back and watch nearly any dub pre cowboy bebop and you'll see they did the exact same thing. It just needs a redub with the same cast, but a more faithful script and the ost which oddly enough is what the dub of Tri is doing for the most part.

AnimeMasterManWND yes, I know that english dub also ruined DB, One Piece, Pokémon, Sonic X, Beyblade, Shaman King, Card Captor Sakura and others with a poop OST, I am from Latain America and with DB, Digimon, Shaman King, Card Captor Sakura, etc, we have the OP dubbed and original OST, and is a really good experience, the digirap is cancer and hey digimon very unfitting, if we didn't count that is a mediocre song like the best Pokémon dub openings... Why we didn't get a Mezase Pokémon dub?
