But no one went to those movies saying "Oh its directed by James Wong!!!"... no one is or was looking forward to the next James Wong movie. So, tho I believe Dragonball was the last theatrical film he directed... he had all of 3 films and no ones losing sleep over his not directing any films. Personally, my dislike for M Night Unpronounceable began with "The Village", which I went to the theater to see, with great anticipation. I had no idea who the director was, and didn't care. From the previews and hype, I had thought (and maybe this was my own misperception and personal taste bias) I was going to see a sci-fi flick about a small settlement on another planet plagued by scary monster aliens, perhaps after having lived there for hundreds of years and depleting their technology and ability to fight back, thus suffering a regression of society to pioneer days levels. What I got was WTF?!! This isn't anything like 'Aliens' or "Planet of the Apes' and WTF was that ending?! They're on Earth the whole damn time? Again, I realize this might be due to my own personal taste bias, but somehow that's what I got out of the previews I had seen, so I was hugely annoyed with the movie. I can't reliably remember those previews or advertising, so I don't know if it was just me or if they were purposely misleading, but since trailers often include clips that don't even make it into the movie, and some movies have been caught intentionally misleading audiences beforehand, I'm willing to give myself the benefit of the doubt. I Had no idea who M Night was prior to that movie, but you can bet I learned who he was after that. Since then, being a grudge holding sort of person, I have NEVER spent any money on anything he's made. I did finally watch 'The Sixth Sense" maybe 5 years after it came out, on the insistence of friends saying it was good and that I should watch it. I still did NOT pay for it though, think I borrowed the DVD from a friend. Duck M Night.

About the movie "Heaven's Gate" Michael Cimino was such a perfectionist, that by the fifth day of filming, they were already four days behind schedule. Sir John Hurt spent so long waiting around on the production for something to do, that he made The Elephant Man (1980), then came back to shoot more scenes for this movie. (from IMDB)

@@salehali9541 The Sequels are worse than the Prequels because the Sequels undid everything the Original Trilogy accomplished: The restoration of the Republic, The revival of the Jedi Order and getting rid of Palpatine. It also undid Luke's character who went from able to forgive Vader for Order66 and Imperial Oppression in the Original Trilogy but contemplated killing his nephew because he had a hint of evil and then after Ben destroyed his Jedi Order, then went into hiding allowing the First Order to gather strength to take out the New Republic. This was so bad that Mark Hamill (Luke's actor) called out Rian Johnson on his direction for Luke. Also let's not forget that Episode 7 is just a remade version of Episode 4 with different actors and settings but same story of a person from a desert planet finding a droid that laters leads to them joining a rebel-I mean resistance to destroy a planet-I mean a system destroying weapon the size of a moon-I mean planet. While on the way fighting a masked villain that has a relationship to the protagonist group. I hate the Prequels Shakespearean dialogue but at least they were original and not ripping off the literal first movie of the series.
@Zeekay9804 жыл бұрын
@@salehali9541 The biggest benefit the prequel trilogy had was that its overall story was planned out ahead of time. The sequel trilogy was left up to the individual directors and suffered for it. The Last Jedi went in a direction no one expected and The Rise of Skywalker did too much "course correction" in response.

First off George Lucas shouldn’t be number 1 as it didn’t ruin his career as he made two more movies and a Clone Wars tv show. Honestly, I’m flabbergasted that neither Rian Johnson or Zack Snyder didn’t make the number one spot. Rian Johnson simply because he made The Last Jedi which was literally the most divisive Star Wars film ever (and in my opinion a poison to the Star Wars mythos) and Zack Snyder (especially) because he made the abysmal BVS which has numerous problems and wasn’t true to the characters it portrayed (yes I’ve seen the extended edition, 3 times as a matter of fact). I’m not faulting him as much for JL as that movie was just doomed from the start and the truly tragic passing of his daughter (to which my heart goes out to him). Other then the number one spot, good list.

George Lucas is on record as saying that it was the bitchy fanboys who convinced him to sell the franchise to Disney. He'd had enough of the bellyaching. He even said that he 'gave in' to the fans when he put the original, unaltered trilogy on DVD (in 2 packs with the 'Special Edition' versions). He said he did it to appease people but all they did was complain that the original versions weren't remastered to their satisfaction. His attitude then became 'If you think someone can do it better, then fine', and he sold to Disney. Now seeing how Disney crapped on Episodes 7-9 Lucas has publicly stated selling to them was a mistake.

Everyone’s trashing on JJ Abrams when it’s Rian Johnson they should be targeting. If the Last Jedi hadn’t been what it was I GUARANTEE you Rise of Skywalker would’ve been much better.
