Years ago, when I was younger (not trying to quote Alexander Rybak here), I was zapping and suddenly a woman singing a beautiful ballad with a flawless voice while wearing an outstanding dress caught my attention. I remember being completely speechless in front of TV. It was in that moment that I fell in love with Eurovision. Thank you for sending Shiri Maimon with "Hasheket Shenishar" in 2005, Israel!

I'd like to add that it's kinda sad to see that most people here in the comments are only asking about the Israeli entries from the last few years but forgot that Israel took part since the 70s and had great entries too. Hallelujah is one of my favorite winners and I love Ofra's Hi. Of course, Same Heart was a good song but I wish, more fans would be more interested in some older Eurovision decades.

Cam Baxter On KZbin Israel isn't retiring, only the broadcast authority is changing. There are some problems because the old one, the IBA is the broadcast authority over 50 years, and some people in Israel didn't like the transition to the new one, the IPBC. The IPBC is now trying to be accepted as a member in the EBU so Israel will continue to be part of Eurovision. The future is not clear, but we all hope that Israel will keep be part of the Eurovision Song Contest

Hasheket Shenish'ar was definitely the strongest entry Israel ever sent imo. It's one of the best break-up songs and I still listen to it this day. Beautiful woman and absolutely amazing song. I actually preferred it to "My Number One" that year.
