I live in Medellin, Colombia. There was a football (fútbol, soccer) player named Andrés Escobar. In the 1994 FIFA World Cup, Colombia's team was playing against US team. Andrés Escobar (who was from Medellín, and was playing there) unfortunately scored an own-goal, so Colombia was eliminated from the tournamet. Five days later, back in Medellín, he was in his car after a party night with his friends, and was shot six times by three guys, saying "goal" after every shot, the number of times that word was "sung" at the game. And he was 27 years old. He's a legend now in Medellín, and a symbol of the search of peace and brotherhood between football fans.
