The most beautiful and profound quote that I ever heard
@vv8s3 жыл бұрын
i feel like this feeling that he describes in the quote isnt ONLY achievable by viewing our planet from outer space / the moon. i think i've gotten this feeling just from learning about space, and about how tiny we actually are. how little some things mean in the grand scheme of things, disregarding the fact that everyone alive on earth today will never outnumber the amount that have died. our planet has existed for over 4 and a half billion years after all :) i do not want to take away how amazing the quote itself is from my statements. i love this quote as well, and i think more people should hear / read it.

+Felix chargaf Ehhh not really. I need proof and explanation for that statement.
@jigglyp9 жыл бұрын
+Twins It's kinda half true. We think that the reason satellites are formed is because another large body (some form of dwarf planet or very large asteroid) collides with said planet and sends a large "chunk" of that planet out into space where it eventually cools. So if that theory is correct, and the other body that hit earth was older that it, then ½ yes, ½ no.
@twins82049 жыл бұрын
TheElectricTroll I understand how that works, but it comes down to an opinion, is the moon parts of earth, or Theia, which is hard to find out (Apart from ground composition). Even if the above is from Theia, we don't know much about it, since it doesn't exist anymore in its original state, meaning we can't determine the age of it on impact. RANT Its safe to say that since Earth was bigger than Theia at the time of impact, Earth would be around longer, which could be false, but I am assuming. Theia struck Earth, and since Earth was the dominating mass, in the end, the moon, is technically Earth; The moon cannot be older than the Earth in any circumstance. /RANT

In a video about a trip on a U-2 spy plane, James May of Top Gear apparently experienced something like the overview effect even after flying 70,000 feet above Earth. In that clip, May had this to say on camera as he stepped out of his seat: "It's not like you imagine it. It's not like being twice as high as an airliner. It's like being in a completely different sphere of human activity. [...] If everybody could do that once, it could completely change the face of global politics, religion, education, everything." He went on to say in voiceover: "It's going to take a while for that to sink in, and that was just THIRTEEN MILES up. Imagine seeing the Earth from almost a quarter of a million miles away. The Apollo astronauts saw it for what it really is--nothing more than a dust mite[moat? (can't make it properly)] left over from the Big Bang. No wonder it had such an effect on them."

I've gotta say, I've had that connected feeling after doing psychedelics like shrooms and acid. It's beautiful and I envy the astronauts who've been able to achieve the same effect just by looking at our planet. I believe once all humans are finally able to go to space easily it'll make us closer and better as a species.

I have a theory about Black Holes. Do you remember that Einstein said that a moving object has faster time than its surroundings? What if Black Holes are not that old, but instead has a short lifespan? Because Black Holes spins very fast, time around it is very slow. So in that case Black Holes are actually has a shorter lifespan. If we can have a machine to alter time, we can easily evaporate Black Holes but will give a big impact to our surrondings. (e.g Making the center of the milky way blackhole to evaporate fast and eventually the stars will float away and Andromeda will be moving forever.) I call this theory the Short Black Hole Lifespan theory.

Man .. I just found you last night.... Since 7pmish till right now... It's 11:54 Eastern Time zone... Dayton OH ... I've subscribed to many channels ad have been using KZbin for a few years and in the last two or so I've been known to not socialize with anyone but my roommate. I've never been emotionally touched I guess... Im not sure what to call it . But just the last few minutes of this video I just starting crying. I'm not a demi God or anything but in my old social circles this isnt a trait I'm known for. I'm a 6'2 230 athletic built bodyguard and bouncer on the side for over a decade now. That doesn't mean shit but just wanted context to the notion I'm trying to relay in regards to me being the type to lose emotional fortitude. .. but thanks . Hands down this is the best I've ever experienced in all the years I've been a KZbin fanatic... I don't even know how to even pretend that I have the vocabulary and with or even gumption to say how much appreciate what you do. These next 4 subs is my roommate and best friend and her sister and my neighbor. No way in hell i could explain this. And that is amazing and I kinda get it . I never have been higher than 35000 ft. But ... I get it ... Thank you

This means that they can not do the following: Eat, drink, sleep, learn, breathe, run, walk, jump, roll, kill, defend, feed, eat, kick, punch, watch, play, be ironic, repeat things, repeat things, be racist, hate Asians and finally, make videos...Oh...And breed.
