Very good list! Aeon's End is definitely my favorite deck builder as well, although I think the campaign style play really elevates it even more. Res Arcana is a great engine builder and the card draft variant is my preferred way to play to maximize that engine. As to Spirit Island, folded space has a really cheap and useful insert that dramatically improves set up and organization.

I should look into an insert but I’m too cheap 😅

This is a great video! I've never even heard of some of these games - I need to go find out more about these.

I definitely think for Spirit Island I was fortunate to learn it with someone else blind, who was willing to sit with me as we watched a video together, asked questions on the community discord, and really just waited patiently as we both learned. Now I get the game but I think if I ever teach someone the game I'd do the same process each time.
3 жыл бұрын
it definitely takes dedication to teach it and people willing to put the mental effort forward especially the first time.

FYI, the new Bullet game will be Bullet ⭐, and will have more space stuff (like aliens from that universe), with more unusual powers. Sounds really cool!

Spirit Island was one of our first games when we got into the hobby. We tried multiple times to like the game and while we did to a certain extent it just wasn't our type of game.
3 жыл бұрын
that’s fair, it definitely isn’t for everybody by any means

Couldn’t agree more with you about Hive. Phenomenal game. Fun gift too. I 3D printed a few custom sets as a gifts for my family this past Christmas. Shobu is also a wonderful 2 player abstract for any fans of Hive

I tried to please shobu with my wife but either of us for some reason really enjoyed it that much. I probably owe it another chance though some point in the future.

It would be awesome of my heavy gaming days could have replaced all those HeroClix and other collectible mins could have been spent playing hours or Cthulhu Death May Die or Middara.

You made me sit down and actually think about this. I realized that there are games i love but would not be in a rush to replace. My list would be : It's a wonderful world Everdell Eclipse Parks Wingspan Shards of infinity Century golem (cheating here with 3 games) Chronicles of drunagor or Descent Empires of the north The captain is dead

Aeon's End is so good. The exhibition mode they added really spices up the game and helps you play all your older content. I am sad I dismissed Cthulhu. I am sure I would love middara but I won't even consider it until I am done Gloomhaven. A bit on the fly but I cant resist making my own list. Aeon's End Shadows over Camelot Gloomhaven Brass (either of the new versions) Patchwork Roll for the Galaxy Century Gollum Edition Concordia Lost Ruins of Arnak Lovecraft Letter Ill keep it at 10 but looking at my list of games I could very easily add another 10 games that I would never sell and would pick up again without a second thought.

Well, Spirit Island is back on my wish list. Too many of the content creators I watch most dig this way too much to ignore.

like I just said someone else though, it definitely is not for everyone and you have to like that style and depth required.

Good list, I have played zero of these games, due to a lack of opportunity, not lack of interest. Hopefully I will get a chance to try some of them. You could have picked a different 10, and I might have played 80% of them.

Everdell is fun but I’m not sure it would be a required list. I also prefer the summer pavilion version of Azul. I haven’t played the other three

So with getting Bullet after watching one of your videos I have now been exposed to Level 99 games universe and is really tempting one. Millennium Blades looks very cool even with personally never being part of a CCG. Conflicted tho with that and Exceed system Street Fighter season which is 2 player and most likely table more. Having played Millennium Blades would you say its a good at 2 players, wife and I, but also your thoughts on age entry which I have a 11 yr old to possibly make 3 player?
3 жыл бұрын
depends on the 11 year old. the concepts are simple but the overall execution is more difficult. also it’s not a short game either. I think it would be fine at 2 though if you are really liking the mechanisms in the first place.
@Tharukan3 жыл бұрын
They sould really bring Cthulhu: Death May Die back to KS with Season 3.. It's too unavailable and expensive at retail, at least here in germany, but with KS extras and a good Season 1 - 3 bundle, I'd probably go in. Though CMON does that VAT thing now, so with that added cost it'd probably be not that great of deal neither. :/
3 жыл бұрын
it’s weird which games they bring back and which games they don’t. I’m sure it’s a bit more complicated with licenses but it seems odd that several like that haven’t gotten another iteration yet.

Thanks for the list. What are your favorite solo games?
3 жыл бұрын
None! just kidding...well sorta. I don’t really play anything solo as an activity necessarily rather more to learn games at least at this point. I guess I would probably say marvel champions right now if I was really being honest because that is one of the few games I’ve played just by myself for enjoyment.
@stevejones99673 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I do solo two or three handed to learn as well. If the game has a solo mode I usually try it out but usually the multi player mode is more fun. I really did enjoy Dune Imperium solo as well as Draconis Invasion solo. More and more I'm liking games that let me do both multi player and solo.
