For a while, my favourite female drummer has been Nao Kawakita of the band Maximum The Hormone. The sheer ferocity of her playing combined with the fact that she also takes on lead vocal duties in certain sections makes her a real force to be reckoned with.

Yea for sure Metal Coyhen is smooth as silk always in the pocket aka great timing has the technicals ( aside from helicopter double kicks and a few other Super elite techs ) She’s smart ( you know how hard it is to memorize and play Tom Sawyer it’s more than half the battle on that one . She does lack evidence of my two most important assets for a drummer Creativity and BEAT SELECTION because she does covers so can’t really judge her on those tho I can surmise she has some measure of both. For the record I don’t need to hear timing is the most important asset I know and that should just be a given because to be a drummer period you have to have at least medium strong to very strong timing .

Thanks for this video! When I was a young girl I wanted to learn how to play the drums but my parents didn't want that "noise" in the house. I settled on a violin--go figure. Scratchy violin or "noisy" drums, which might have been worse?! Anyway, nice to see some talented female drummers and I can dream thru them. Gotta agree that Akane from BAND-MAID is pretty damned legit and has a lot of energy as well as hitting those drums nice and hard, the way you ought to. She and Misa, their bassist, groove and crunch equally well. I was pleased to see the variety of styles you showcased on here, nicely done! I love Kristina's attitude. Solid drummer, for sure, but damn...her sheer enthusiasm, verve and hutzpah is just so dang infectious! :) Within 30 seconds of any song she's playing, I want to hit pause and hop on my kit.

I was worried I would see some female drummers I had seen become popular online that I thought had no heart or soul in their playing despite having a big following. To my surprise none of those drummers were listed here and all the ones that are I am so very impressed and pleased with. So glad these drummers featured are so clearly joyful about the drums and not distracted by the fact that they are females doing so. Some channels really lean on being female, these examples you can clearly see their conviction in their performance, hear it too. Got new drummers and bands to listen to now. Great video and great integrity shown in choices for the video
