You should get your nomenclature straight: A Flying Boat is an Airplane that can land in the water using its belly, as opposed to a Floatplane that is a landplane with floats mounted to operate from water. Typical flying boats are the PBY Catalina, Short Sunderland, B&V 222, Republic Seabee, Lake Buccaneer, Canadair 215 etc.

Hydrofoil boats is old things...and the BEST of all times ever is Russian Kometa !!!! And never be the same or that good and nice looking hydrofoils !!! Rostislaw Alexeeyev exactly knows how to made a legend.......and all this new bullsh*t is no one be a legend....those times is gone !!!!!!!!!

I looked up hydrofoil boats just out of curiosity. Honestly this is a lame gimmick. A fast boat is hardly in the water anyways, it's lifted up by the engines in the back. Hydrofoils cut too much water to be fast, and clearly struggle in choppy conditions so what's the point? Get a taller boat and you're already multiple feet out of the water. Also most of these things look lame to people who actually spend time using watercraft and boats.

True, but from an engineering perspective it is interesting. I believe that ground effect craft are a much better alternative then hydrofoils.
