Akara is a snack that is originally from Nigeria but that has migrated to a number of West African countries as well as Brazil and the Caribbean. It is a traditional snack from Nigeria that is also popular in Ghana, Togo, Benin, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal and The Gambia. It is actually a fried bean cake or fritter that is a common breakfast staple or fast food. Normally eaten as breakfast with *Akamu* (Igbo)/Ogi (yoruba) which is like *custard* made from grounded maize/corn or millet.

@@africaine4889 when they are broke in Africa, rich customers have chicken legs chopped off at markets, so they ask the butcher to keep the legs for them, lol. So some are used to preparing stew with it. So if u see a Nigerian eating it you know they are from humble beginnings. It could also be just a choice in other African countries.

Great list. Love Kabba. Check out Kabba Girl. She sells kabba all year long because it is preserved. You can get it out of season and it is still good. Ebbeh is Gambian seafood gumbo. A drink you should try in addition to Hibiscus, Baobab juice and Kabba juice is Dittah (the green one). And the yellow cocktail is like Vimto but different flavor. So good.

Ricki Denise are you Gambian. Ricki Denise you could add puff puff with honey or with powder sugar with sardines inside the puff puff and it taste good. You have to add the honey when it's hot it taste good like that. For the powder sugar wait until the puff puff cool down to add it on.
