Once again! Just a great collection. I just sent out my 1907 $5 legal tenter note to be graded. It takes soooo long lol. They said about 8 weeks. It’s been 2 1/2 weeks since then. It’s the only thing I don’t like about sending em to be graded. But other than that I totally love it. Keep the awesome videos coming 👍

Thank you very much! I have been hearing about delays and longer than usual turn around times so I wouldn't be worried about your wood chopper. I always have my eye out for one with the "PCBLIC" error. Some day I'll get one. Good luck with the grade!

I got back 6 notes from PMG yesterday. Took over 4 mths. One Texas note came back minor repairs on back and ink cancelled. I'm gunna have to study to find the repair . Maybe ur right its been trimmed. Ur collection NICE.
@Stuplubakcurrency3 жыл бұрын
There could be other repairs as well. If the note was washed, it could come back repaired. People try to clean and press notes to remove stains and creases without knowing what it does to the paper.
@larrywalker61053 жыл бұрын
@@Stuplubakcurrency Your right. I did find a little repair. It's a little square patch I didn't notice, about 3/8"× 3/8".
@Stuplubakcurrency3 жыл бұрын
@@larrywalker6105 My 1896 $2 was trimmed and it took me forever to figure that out. I did purchase a $5 1886 silver cert (Morgan back) pretty cheap because someone cleaned it so dramatically that they bleached part of the seal. It also has a really small patch. I haven't posted it yet. I'm saving it for when I crack 1000 subs. You will see it soon! Take care!

Hey Stu. Hope all is well. Awesome video. I haven’t had any of my notes graded because my currency book pages won’t fit graded notes.

My collection outgrew my books! I keep my lesser notes in penny boxes. Unfortunately graded notes don't fit there either. So back to the SDB with them.

When PCGS currency opened in 2005 by Collectors Universe,Jason Bradford, who owned PCGS,was named director.In 2009 Collectors Universe sold PCGS currency to Bradford with a 10 year license and was operated by his firm K3B,Inc.When that license ran out,Jason Bradford left PCGS to form Legacy Currency Grading. For most of 2019,PCGS aas grading notes at their international offices.But,I'm like you, majority of my notes are raw.But having some is important for cross-reference

So cool! I’m really surprised that you only have 10 graded notes, I thought it would be much more. I like to buy stuff already graded and let the seller take the hit on the grading fees. I liked the 1862 $1 best
@Stuplubakcurrency4 жыл бұрын
That 1862 is pretty stunning! I have the feeling more of the notes I get will be graded. But, like you said, I will gladly let others pay the grading fee. It is fun haggling over raw notes though.
@tylonnplatinumthe3rd6594 жыл бұрын
Also it’s probably a lot less risky buying raw notes as long as they are genuine. They don’t have the huge risk of “details” grades like coins do
@tylonnplatinumthe3rd6594 жыл бұрын
Although they can get a net grade and notations for different types of damage and repairs. It doesn’t seem to kill the prices quite like it does with coins though. Overall I’d be much less nervous about buying raw notes then coins though

Does anyone know whether a margin size discrepancy with a dollar note is worth more than face value?
@Stuplubakcurrency Жыл бұрын
Off center notes actually lower the grade making them LESS valuable. If you have a note that is cut wrong and the cut interfered with the print, it would be worth a little more.

Legacy grading is basically a continuation of the old PCGS. If you go to PCGS’s website to lookup a notes certification it will not work unless it is in the new holder. You will have to go to legacy grading to get that certification verified because they are under their database. Also PMG offers an EPQ designation for VF25 but it is seldom seen. Beautiful lazy deuce though man that’s a very tough and popular note.
@Stuplubakcurrency4 жыл бұрын
It seems that notes in legacy holders don't draw as much attention in auctions. Great info! When I saw that lazy deuce, I had to find a way to make it happen. It could be years before I see another one at this price.

That was a very fun and educational video to watch. Thanks for sharing. How common are fake 1000 and 500 dollar bills??
@Stuplubakcurrency4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Any counterfeit would be rare (except confederates). If you are looking at an ungraded note, be sure to touch it. You can feel the difference. If it doesn't feel like money, just pass. There are enough notes out there for you to come across another one. The phrase that scared me was "contemporary reproduction". When I see notes like this mixed with lots that don't say that, I tend to want a graded note. This is more the case with pre-1900s notes.
