That no.3 England vs New Zealand has to be the best and most controversial cricket match ever. This was a World Cup finals, Both teams batted 50 overs (300 balls bowled) and made exactly the same number of runs, so it was a tied finals. But to pick a winner for the match they had a super over (each team gets 6 balls i.e. 1 over bowled at them to outscore each other), they both made exactly the same number of runs even there. So they officially couldn't find a winner for the finals even then. So how did they decide the winner of a World Cup? By 'the boundary count', i.e. the team that managed to get the ball across the boundary the maximum number of times during the match (most number of 4s or 6s). England therefore were the winners of the World Cup. This was so arbitrary. But what made it worse is that there was an umpiring error in the run out attempt that hit the batsman and went for a 4. The umpires overlooked a rule and awarded England 1 run more than they actually made. Meaning England, who were eventually declared WC winners, might have lost the finals by 1 run. The obsession for Indian views and India v Pakistan has clearly pushed this to no.3. But this match was unbelievable even as a neutral. This would have been unbelievable emotionally if you're a NZ or an England fan, I'm sure.

Ben stoke had not tried to hit the ball through his bat intentionally, it is normal rule in cricket, there is a 5 run that can be scored but it can be only possible if you score 1 run by running in the pitch and if the fielder overthrow the ball and go to the boundary then the extra 4 runs will be given to the team and it has not only happen to the England but also to many teams in cricket in very very few circumstances. Probably this match was something else.

I agree with a lot of the other comments, please, if you want to react to more cricket, please watch at least a few games live. Right now is a GREAT time to start because the One Day International (ODI) WORLD CUP is going on (in India its free to watch with streaming service but I don't know how you'd watch it in America) and there are matches that happen every day. Even if you don't have any idea as to what's going on, it's a great place to start especially with the commentary. PLEASE pay attention to the commentary when you watch these matches as the commentators are not just reacting to what's going on, but most of them are great players who have retired, so they have invaluable insight to provide regarding everything. So that's the best place to learn about cricket in depth right from the masters, right from the real matches happening live. Oh and BTW the ODI world cup only happens once every four years, so the last one happened in 2019, and as you saw from the compilation (if you paid attention) England won it very closely.

An over is a set of 6 balls bowled by the same bowler. According to the laws of cricket, every bowler who comes to bowl has to deliver 6 legal deliveries. The six deliveries make one over. After one over is finished, the next bowler bowls the next six legal deliveries or the next over. The same bowler can not bowl two overs consecutively. In a One-Day match, each side has to bowl 50 overs. In a 20-20 (T20), every side has to bowl 20 overs. Then there are additional rules, for example in 50-50 and 20-20, one bowler can not bowl more than 10 and 4 overs respectively. Innings - every time when a batting side comes in to bat we call it an innings. It makes more sense in test matches where each side gets to bat two times. So for example England scores 340 the first time they came in to bat and 230 the second time, we will say that they scored 340 in first innings and 230 in the second innings. It is also used for individual scores made by a batter in one innings. Suppose King Kohli scores 154 not out against a very tough opponent in tough batting conditions, we will say what a great innings of Virat Kohli making an unbeaten 154.

Guys, 6 balls = 1 over. And Innings changes based on the game. For example in test matches if a team plays for 4 days it'll be counted as 4 innings. In ODI and T20 it'll be two innings (i.e. once a team completed their batting / bowling that'd be one innings.)

Oh my God! It's painful to watch you guys trying to understand basic cricket terminology. I don't claim to know much about it myself, but let me try to help you with the basics. In cricket, two teams of 11 players each play against each other. Each team has one captain, one wicketkeeper (guy behind the wickets), bowlers (guys who deliver the ball), and batsmen/batters (guys who hit said ball with a bat). At the beginning of every match is the coin toss. Whichever side wins the toss gets to decide whether they will bowl and field first (fielding/bowling side) or bat first (batting side). *The Over:* When a bowler from the fielding side delivers the ball six times that completes one over. So 6 balls = 1 over. Now for the formats. Well, there are three - Test matches, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T-20). *Test match:* In the beginning, there were just the Test matches. They are considered the highest form of cricket. One test match consists of four innings (two per team) and is scheduled to last for up to a maximum of five days. An innings is over when either 10 of the 11 batsmen are out or if the captain believes they have enough runs and chooses to declare the first innings as complete. If all four innings are unable to be completed over the course of the designated five days, then the game is declared a draw. Yeah, there's obviously a lot more. But that's enough about the test matches. *One-day International (ODIs):* These are one-innings matches of 50 overs per side. Initially, they were also called Limited Overs Cricket. But now we also have the T-20s. *Twenty20 Internationals (T-20):* These are one-innings matches of 20 overs per side. I guess this is enough for now. Innings = batting turn in simpler words. Eg, 1 over = 6 pitches/balls. In ODIs, 1 innings per team = 50 overs or all 10 batters out which ever comes first. One day international (ODI) = 50 overs = 6 x 50 = 300 balls. I know it's too much math for you Corbin but I hope this kinda clears things for Rick😂 I'd recommend reacting to your own reaction about different formats of cricket. Innings is the allotment of the entire batting & bowling time on field, overs are the amount of balls bowled at the opponent, there are 6 balls for each over. Examples is 300 balls = Innings and is 50 overs available for the team that bats , and the team that bowls... of course however , batters can be all out before the 300 balls are bowled and can bowl the team out at any particular times in the match , this type of cricket is my favourite and is call a ODI. This stands for one day international, most teams these days usually bat and make 300 runs per Innings.. and that of course is from 300 balls. So if batsman get out or struggling to score makes it hard because the runs requires more than 1 or more runs per each ball from the 300 that a team my score

1st innings one team bats other team balls. 2nd innings the team bats , other team balls. 50/50 cricket aka odi cricket . A team balls 300 balls. 6 balls 1 over, 50 times . 6x50 hence is called 50/50 cricket. T20 aka 20/20 cricket . Each team balls 6x20 balls or 20 overs. So not everyone have to get out for the inning to finish . They just have ball the overs. And in the 5 day cricket you play for 5 days exactly and there is max of 4 innings. So each team bats twice balls twice . Watch a cricket match. The icc World Cup is going on right now

You have to get familiar with the game before the World Cup in America. The T20 World Cup is coming for you! An Innings is the batting/bowling turn of one of the sides. A test has 4 innings, ODI and T20 have 2 innings each, as you only bat or bowl once per team. ODI and T20 are limited over formats - An innings constitutes 50 overs and 20 overs, respectively. The top 10 list is subjective - the WC 2019 final (#3 on the list) would be my fav, followed by the chase of 434(#2). The #1 was a great game - though I haven't seen it, it can't be ranked above the WC final.

The Boundary is marked by a rope, a barrier or small fence. If a ball reaches the boundary that is an automatic 4 runs for the batsman (they don;t need to actually run them). If the ball goes OVER the boundary on the full (like a Home Run in Baseball), it is worth 6 runs. If a fielder catches the ball, on the full within the boundary the batsman is out. The fielder may not cross the boundary with the ball in their hands. So you will sometimes see a fielder catch the ball, toss it in the air as the cross the boundary and step back onto the field and catch the ball again, or they may throw it to a nearby teammate in order to get the batsman out.

In Test Cricket (everyone wears white), there are 2 innings for each team (unless the 2nd team does not reach the run tally of the 1st team by the end of their 2nd Innings… this is known as a Follow On and it is at the discretion of 1st Team’s captain if they want to force the Follow On).

You really don't know anything about cricket A cricket game is like two teams play one (fore short format like 50 over (one over means 6 legal deliveries by one person. After one over another person comes to to ball 2nd over. In 50 over(50x6=300 legal deliveries by one team) one person can ball 10 overs maximum. but h he can't ball 2 over continuesly. Or 20 over game(20x6=120 legal deliveries by one team. One personal can ball maximun 4 overs) or two innings(test matches means the play will continue for maximum 5 days. Each day will have around 90 overs)
