These are not Dungeon crawlers on this video!!! 1: Legend of grimrock: (and part 2) 2: Dungeon master. ( and part 2) 3: Eye of the beholder (1,2 and 3) 4: Bloodwych. ( + extention) 5: I guess wizardry series counts too. 6: Shining in the darkness (sega genesis) 7: Arcana ( SNES) 8: Land of lore. ( pure classic gem) 9: And some more wich I forgot its names. These, above, are real crawlers.

@@homejonny9326 you crawl in a dungeon. Seriously, dungeon crawlers are first-person, party based rpgs. Most have very labyrinthe-ey levels. I agree that Diablo and such games also fit that description, apart from the first-person perspective and fact that they are not party based. But the rest is similar. For me, those have always been action rpgs, because... theres more action? but yeah, that is essentially the difference.

Most of these were Action RPG's such as Diablo and its variants. Dungeon Crawlers are those like Wizardry and Dungeon Master.

i remember when i was 9, i used to play resident evil, couldnt get past the first few doors but no nightmares, when i was 6 i used to sneak downstairs while my parents slept in th middle of the night and watch the blob on vhs XD

Holy crap I'm so glad they put Dark Alliance on this list. That was my favorite game of all time for the PS2. Man it brings back awesome memories.

FATE was my childhood! I loved it so much. I just found out the name of it today after recalling some memories (being killed by multiple monsters at once, along with my pet cat) I had but I couldn't remember the name. It's good to find out a 3rd one came a few years ago. I'm definitely SO DOWN for playing it again C:

To me. Champions of Norrath for the PS2 was the best hack 'n slash multiplayer for that systems generation (the sequel CoN:Return to Arms was plagued with game breaking bugs). But that first one was pure gold. It was the next game that the team of Snowblind who did Baldur's Gate worked on and it was definitely superior with choose-able race/gender/class combinations compared to the locked choices of both Baldur's Gate games.

The first one I ever played was on my old Atari ST in the 80's. It was called Dungeon Master. There was my first computer, a Sinclair ZX81 with a game called 3D Monster Maze that may have been primitive, but it was still a good game.

The first dungeon crawler I played was on Oric Atmos, called Tyrann (developped by some french guy I think). Then the Bard's tales 1, 2 and 3 :)

Demon Souls, Torchlight, Diablo, Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights those for sure arent Dungeon Crawlers. You have to know that slashers=/Dungeon Crawlers. If you want to know, Bunny Black, is pure Dungeon Crawler and it should be in top 5.

Snowblind's Champions of Norrath and Champions Return to Arms are incredible. I am fairly certain Snowblind also made Baldur's Gate. However, CON and RTA were two of the very first real games I played. I love them to death.

Thays what i am saying Champions Return to Arms is still the best hack n slash/dungeon Crawler/ whatever the fuck you wanna call it I've ever played. It trumps any other game I've ever played. Its certainly better the BG Dark Alliance and in my eyes miles beter then Diablo or Diablo II

Gauntlet series FTW. I haven't played the original, but I do remember the times when I would put in numerous amount of tokens at an arcade to play Gauntlet: Legends and Dark Legacy.

I played an old dungeon game (older than this game) and can't remember what it's called. Early 3D real time hack and slash, where you weren't trapped in a dungeon, but could enter and exit. Could play in a party with friends. Could sell items retrieved from in the dungeon. If you died, you could pay for people to look for your body, or if a friend could find and retrieve it, you could be revived. Dungeon had levels, with each level lower being harder to clear out than the previous. Any ideas?

Admittedly I would say Demon's Souls is more of a full-on dungeon crawler simulator than an actual dungeon crawler, but it's that much better for it -- certainly better than the rest of the games on this list (most of which are not strictly dungeon crawlers, either). It's just strange seeing it listed so low, if you're going to have it on your list at all. (Let's not forget that Dark Souls was out by the time this video was uploaded, too.)

hack n slash is just as much mis labeling.Hack n slash is a distinct genre,things like Legacy of cain series and God of war.You can't hack n slash with spells and bows.Hack n slash = more active and elaborate combat and none stat based (some have light rpg elements still).

Well, it's fine by me. Anyway, Demon's Souls ain't even a dungeon crawler, so wtf it's doing on this list, besides, of course, that none of games at the list is a dungeon crawler :). They are all dungeon crawlers. A dungeon crawler is generally identified for its emphasis on character progression and loot gathering. It has only recently come to mean a grid-based first-person rpg.
