That Kamogawa vs Anderson fight is nuts It's a flashback of the old coach (Kamogawa) where he fought a racist american (Anderson - the blonde) who had given his best friend brain damage with an illegal punch (rabbit punch - back of head). Anderson beats up Kamogawa for the entire fight before he gets dropped with just two punches because Kamogawa had toughened his fists to prepare for that fight by punching logs. Both punches destroyed the coach's hands so badly that it ended his career. Anderson hasn't been shown since.

It was the 1920s, during the Great Depression in the 30s after Dempsey retired, guys couldn’t afford to cut weight so there were a ton of small heavyweights because they didn’t wanna drain their bodies when they couldn’t afford to eat a lot. The 30s and 40s were a big time for smaller heavyweights and when you think of Mike Tyson’s Trainer Cus D’amato and the time period of boxing he grew up in you realize how Jack Dempseys Influence went on to inspire even the boxers coming up today who only know Tyson

During number 9, our dear protag was using a modified version of his signature attack, the Dempsey Roll. Down side to that one is that the muscles start to literally tear apart, potentially causing permanent damage. He won though, so there's that. Running theme with the show is that these dudes will sacrifice their very lives to win. It's intense.
@DrQuin8516 жыл бұрын
The whole green pupils thing is a visualization of someones willpower. When our hero’s are being beat, they will muster up whatever strength they have left and when thats not enough, they dip into their willpower or “guts” to have the strength to be victorious. Also, the invisible punch is a feint that is thrown with (this is a loose translation) the intent to kill behind it. Seriously though. Watch this anime and read the manga. Its one of those stories that stays with you for a life time. It has for me for 18+ years so far and the manga is still in production.

I know I’m late but when you said “I don’t know how they could think that fast in real time” if you actually learn to box or compete in any combat sport there are little nuances your mind learns to pick up in an instant over a lot of practice and the sentences they say in those moments are, a lot of times, spot on to what my mind thinks when i spar a lot. There’s a scene, i forget which fight, where he notices a weight shift/a guy drop down when he was about to start throwing a straight which is abnormal and he covered but then when the straight didn’t come, he instantly realized the straight was a feint and that an uppercut was coming, it was like a 30 second long scene for an instance lasting less than 2 seconds but it was perfectly spot on to how somebody and myself included actually thinks in that moment. It’s truly one of my favorite shows of all time.
