Here's another Robin Williams story! During the filming of Jumanji, Robin Williams helped defend one of the child stars Bradley Pierce from the overbearing and demanding producers during the making of the movie. The producers wanted Pierce to work overtime, but Williams stood up to them and protected him.

When the Big Bang Theory final episode was being taped and Penny and Leonard announce they’re having a baby, Johnny Galecki actually was an expecting dad. His son was born later that year. His excitement in that scene was him channeling his real emotions about starting his family.

Cool list! When Vincent Price was making the film "diary of a mad-man", his less experienced (at the time) female co-star Nancy Kovack was a fan and a bit intimidated to be working with him, but he was a lovely, kind and respectful gentleman. In fact, just before they shot her character's big murder scene, Vincent tried to break the tension by tickling her.

The story for why Sean Connery did the sci fi film Zardoz is really sweet. Apparently the town the movie was filmed in, County Wicklow in Ireland, had suffered a severe economic collapse due to the town’s main job source being destroyed in a fire, and the town was at risk of being completely abandoned and the townspeople were struggling to find work. Wanting to help, Sean agreed to do the movie but only if the locals were hired to help with the cast and crew jobs and the film was made in County Wicklow. This choice saved the town’s economy and helped it stay alive and running.

When I was at Columbia Pics in the 1980s, we had a film - Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip - which was based on his stand up performance about nearly burning himself to death while free-basing. The night of the actual performance which was to be filmed, Pryor was beyond nervous and scared - so scared that everyone but his own people were instructed to stay out of his sight until after the performance. Of course, finally someone had to let him know when it was time to go onstage and guess who was selected to do it - me. I knocked on his dressing gently. Robin Williams opened the door to me and smiled. He had been in the room all afternoon calming Pryor. I gave him the word that it was time and then scooted away. All went very well that night and Pryor was great. Robin Williams never took any credit for it of course (which was his way of being) but I know what a big part he played in the success of the night - and the film.

Going a little farther back, during filming of "The Phantom of the Opera" (the silent 1925 version) Mary Philbin, who played Christine, was pretty inexperienced and having trouble in the role. Lon Chaney, who played the Phantom, quietly took her under his wing and coached her. She then asked him to be on set for every film she did after that, and he obliged.

Here's one of my favorites: Andy Griffith famously had a very close friendship with Don Knotts. On the last day Don worked as a series regular on The Andy Griffith Show, the two guys, as per they usual habit, stuck around on the set after filming to chat with each other and have some laughs. At one point, both guys looked around and realized that the entire set was empty. Usually, some cast and crew also stuck around after filming and sometimes joined the two. Don and Andy realized that everyone quietly left because they understood how close the two men were and wanted to give them their space to say goodbye to each other.

Another great one from the Harry Potter films: Richard Griffiths, who played Uncle Vernon, took Daniel Radcliffe under his wing during the filming. They spent a fair amount of time together on the set and he mentored Radcliffe both in life and in acting. Radcliffe's first stage performance was in the play "Equus" co-starring Griffiths and it included full-frontal nudity. Radcliffe said many times he wouldn't have had the nerve if it wasn't for Griffiths calming presence.

-Margaret Hamilton, in spite of playing the iconic Wicked Witch of the West, was a sweetheart and a former teacher who also championed for animals. She was universally loved by the cast, especially Judy Garland, whom she also protected on the set. -Albert "Cubby" Broccoli learned about the lousy food and conditions on the set of The Spy Who Loved Me and he not only arranged to have home-cooked Italian food shipped to the set out of his own pocket, but he made it himself.

On the last show of Mash, Charles Ogden Stier wrote his own number in the book of poetry to Loretta Swit. Boris Karloff became friends with the little girl who played against him in one of his movies.

During the production of Frankenstein (1931) there was some concern that 7-year-old Marilyn Harris who played Maria, the little girl who was thrown into the lake by the Frankenstein Monster and then drowned, would be overly frightened by the sight of Karloff in his makeup and costume when it came time to shoot the scene. When the cast was assembled to travel to the location, Marilyn ran from her car directly up to Karloff, who was in full makeup and costume, took his hand and asked "May I drive with you?". Delighted, and in typical Karloff fashion, he responded, "Would you, darling?". She then rode to the location with "the Monster".

Goodbye, Farewell and Amen (1983) In an undated interview, Loretta Swit stated that she often teased David Ogden Stiers' being rather reclusive, particularly that she didn't even know his phone number. In the episode, Winchester gives a particular book of poetry to Houlihan. When Swit opened the book during filming, there was a slip of paper with Stiers' phone number on it. As Margaret/Loretta is leaving camp, waving her right hand, Winchester/David puts his right hand on his heart, an old gesture of respect.

Love the stories but where was what Steven Spielberg did for Drew Barrymore while on lunch breaks filming "E.T.?" COME ON #MsMojo !!! The cast, particularly Drew, recounts that during lunch breaks, Drew (who thought E.T. was a real life creature) would take her lunch over by where the costume was and talk to it as if E.T. could hear and understand her. When Spielberg was made aware of this, he made sure that someone was always in the costume to move and respond to Drew at those lunch breaks!!
