Evergreen is such a cute little town too. Took a day trip out there once. Beautiful views on the drive there too. My favorite hike since I moved here is definitely Sky Pond in RMNP. We took a big loop around so spent about 10 miles hiking that day. Super beautiful views and a really cool scramble up top!

I've briefly been in Evergreen before hiking Chief Mountain, the views were stunning indeed! I would have loved to hike to Sky Pond when I was in Colorado but I didn't get a chance. Sounds like a fantastic 10 mile hike!

St. Mary's Glacier was a phenomenal first Denver hike for me. Thanks for the recommendation! The water was ice cold, and perfect!

Great to hear you had a good time! And I agree about the water, but it's a little cold for a pleasant swim haha

I'll be in Denver for 4/20 and the weather is trippin me out... trying to figure out which hikes I will try out while visiting. Your video is very informative, thanks!

The weather is very unpredictable in April so best of luck! I would recommend lower elevation hikes, all trails will show people’s recent reviews and what the trail conditions are like currently

St. Mary's glacier is great to hike to when it's hot in summer. You can lay down on the snow.

Wow that's something I didn't even think about, it must be pretty surreal to be in snow on a summer day

I'll be in Denver for business the first week of November. I was hoping to get out for a day and do a couple easy trails. Is early November too late in the season for some of these trails? Great video btw!

The weather varies a bit during early November. I would download the app all trails and read what people are currently posting about the trail conditions. Your best bet would be to do some trails in the front range (Morrison, Golden, Boulder, etc)

@Doug Sawyer Thanks for the insight! I found that hiking in boulder during the winter is doable, but can be a bit tricky without good shoes or spikes. I hiked the flatirons a few times and it was slippery as can be!

are you allowed to camp along those trails? Like at st. mary's glacier?
@WanderlustWellman
@WanderlustWellman 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question, I honestly think it depends on where the trail is located - a lot of land in Colorado is open for camping anywhere, but some land you probably have to have a permit and/or be camping at a site

Thanks so much for this video! You might wanna fix your map tho, Europe is actually smaller than that and Africa is bigger and longer :)

Are bears/mountain lions an issue?? Traveling to Denver in December and I want to go on all of the hikes haha but just worried about seeing any😅
@WanderlustWellman
@WanderlustWellman 4 жыл бұрын
Personally, Ive never seen a single bear or mountain lion. That being said, they do exist in Colorado but are rare to see or encounter - Im sure that if they hear a human nearby, they will most likely take off before you know they are there. Also, hiking in December can be a little tricky, you might want to try snowshoeing instead!

@@WanderlustWellman yeah we were actually reconsidering that because it’ll be our first time at altitude and I know it‘a probably not recommended esp. with the snow/temps. But thank you so much for your response and suggestion!

It depends, really. I've seen dozens of bear in Colorado, but only one of them didn't scare off easily. And he was sitting on a sidewalk in town eating trash from a spilled over trashcan. Just bring bear spray or something, just in case, but they shouldn't be a problem. I've never seen a mountain lion, but have seen a bobcat in Colorado. It didn't bother us, but it did scare me a bit since I had my medium sized dog with me. Mountain lions rarely attack humans, and if they do, it's usually a cub and can be fought off. The biggest thing you have to worry about is with pets and small children.

Nice vid appreciate it could you maybe tell me the closest Hike near Denver downtown and if it is already included in this vid, Thanks In advanced
@WanderlustWellman

Thanks for watching! It’s hard to give you an answer on this because “hike” is a loosely definited term - some walking paths around the city are technically hikes, although they are just by rivers or parks. If you want to be close to the mountains, I would recommend red rocks, mount Gailbrath, and mt falcon - all are around 30 min or so from downtown
