My thinking is Lorne is developing the newer cast a bit into the more "repertory" roles. Melissa needs no more "development" she's fully developed. Once Kate and/or Cecily and/or Aidy leaves the show, Melissa is going into the lead role. So for now she's spice but not a full-on assault.

Melissa's versatility is off the charts, not only are her voice's characters spot-on, but her facial expressions, physical gestures, and mannerisms totally embody the people she's portrays. I've only discovered her a month ago, and she is extremely funny and Uber talented, and humble. To me she's the epitome of the best, and she never stops astounding me/ making me laugh.
