@puertoriconnect46115 жыл бұрын
@@atheistbale6138 Agreed. And it's WAY more common for people who hate hipsters to be pretentious douchebags. They're obsessed with hating hipsters and labeling anything that a hipster may like as uncool. So there's all this cool shit you're not supposed to like unless you wanna be labeled a hipster. For example. I'm a fan of the band Weezer. I got my first pair of prescription glasses in highschool. My parents could only afford the cheapest frames but I was perfectly happy with them since they looked like the ones Rivers Cuomo had. Then those glasses became a hipster thing and fucking assholes would judge me as a pretentious douchebag JUST because my glasses. I remember one kid laughing in my face and telling me I was a joke cause my glasses. Yet I"M the pretentious one. Then everyone started wearing thick rimmed glasses and now it's normal and no one says shit.

+spprw How is it not? It was a weird, eccentric indie movie with a muted color scheme and a lame 'eccentric' ending and a child stripping.
@spprw9 жыл бұрын
+MCRmyGeneral again, what does that have to do with a "movement" (movement?! whaaat??) obviously not even vaguely understood by the lames who made this video , as evidenced by describing "hipsters" as people who wear "scarves" and for some craaaazy reason decide for themselves how they dress, and find music they actually like; not to make a "statement", but because theyre not going to listen to programmed, corporate Vevo/TV/radio payola bullshit. thst that's seen as a bad thing is sad. are you sure you dont mean "indie"? (because also nooo) there's nothing "hipster" about any of this: someone writes a script, roomfuls of people pick it apart, decide what stays, what goes, what needs to be changed, all so that it can reach the BROADEST audience possoble. months later, a director hires a DP to get the look he wants for his film, and then once the final edit is APPROVED, this not even independent so-called "hipster" film, which exists thanks to 4 different production companies, is distributed by FOX!!! ..also, greg kinnear is in it, for fuck's sake.

Hipster (noun): A individual who thinks and acts independently from the system. A person who is always himself and doesn't attempt to fit in society. The person doesn't care the opinion of others towards him. His likes and dislikes are totally independent from anyone else. If he likes something it's because he personally like it and is not influenced by anyone or anything to do so including Music, Movies, Hobbies, Sports, Art, Fashion, Culture, etc. A real Hipster doesn't necessarily dress with skinny jeans, plaid shirts, sweaters, scarfs, Black Mold Glasses or suspenders, or wears a beard or a mustache. That is just a misconception of the mainstream toward Hipsters. A real Hipster can dress however he wants to, not like the misunderstood and supposedly legit "Hipster Fashion". That is just fake. One thing is true of this video. A real Hipster doesn't admit being one. Obviously because they don't want to be confused with this false movement that promotes a trend that has been manipulated to the consumer's eyes. And of course that if someone admitted of being a hipster it would only prove the fact of that the person is only wanting to follow the trend. Hipsters aren't followers. Hipsters create their own path. They don't follow others. And to be more clear of the subject, you DON'T have to hate mainstream to automatically be a Hipster. You can be a Hipster and also like the mainstream at the same time. The world has really misunderstood the true meaning of what defines a Hipster.

Bryan Garban Bryan Garban. I think I agree with you for the most part, but you're exaggerating a bit. there's not really such a thing as not being influenced by anything or anyone (as long as you're experiencing anything at all...). And there's no shame in being influenced. listening and learning from other people and other things is great and can help you build you're own intrests and you're own path. I also believe that sharing that path with other people and introducing them to you're world of intrests and passion doesn't make it less special or meaningful. Having you're on "totally independent" and "uninfluenced" thing is mostly an ego boost to yourself. I think that the strangest thing about this definition is that you could switch the word "hipster" with the word "lonely" and it would become a lot more accurate. Be influenced, care about other people and what they think, and just care about other people and be with them in general. It won't lower you're value, it's bound to increase it and make you a better and more special person.
@ryebrymusic6328 жыл бұрын
Shay Tsfoni You know, now that I read carefully what I wrote, you're not wrong. But I'm not meaning that you can't be influenced by anything or anyone to be yourself, I just meant that you don't have to like, do or be something just because someone else tells you to. We all make our own choices in life. The tricky part is choosing correctly. But if you're aware that you want to do something or be something because you feel that that's what you want, then you are already being yourself. And if that also means that you want to follow some trends because you like them and not because you want others to like you for doing it, then it is totally understandable and respectable. What I originally wanted to state is that the "so called Hipster" does not exist as the comercial world portrays it. I mean that basically you are already a Hipster by just being yourself. Being yourself is what makes you original, creative and particular, and many don't choose that path. (Note: I am not stating in a literal form that just being yourself automatically makes you a Hipster.) I didn't mean to sound like a Anti-hipsternazi and if I did, than excuse me. (P.S: Woah, switching the word for the definition does make it fit too well haha.)

Its really insane when i see people ride on those bike and they think they are on a good fast bike. I used to ride real cycling competitions a few years ago and they really do everything wrong on those bikes. The twig handlebar in the front is stupid and to short. They don't have brakes PLUS have one gear so again NO brakes and they are riding in the city with those bikes so that's about the dumbest thing you can do. Not to mention the height of the bik is way to low. If you have a bike that is low in weight but the sadle is to low then your not really going faster you just look like a stupid hipster on a fake fancy race bike.

my problem is that you can never tell the difference between a person such as you and a person who likes things superficially until you actually get to know them. i hate when people look at the way someone dresses and presents themselves then automatically deduce conclusions about that person. to me that's worse than fake liking things.
@jameswayton23408 жыл бұрын
trvns humvn That's totaly true. I think the problem is also that some people do those superficially things while not knowing that to get attention. Maby they actually DO know that but don't want to tell. I think its normal to not like mainstream things cause to a certain group of people its everything but inspiring. Or maby they just feel a little different. I think its the effort that is the dilemma here maby. If the effort you put in being YOU honest or not, is the question maby? I don't understand why i have trouble understanding this hipster shit but i do know its pissing me off when i see certain things xD.

I always thought of watchmojo as more of a hipster vehicle than these movies. The evidence? _ superficial obsession with popular culture and top 10 lists; - glib, pseudo-intellectual analysis of same; - excessive use of verbal air quotes to convey ever-present irony; - short format to cater to millennial attention spans; - and most importantly, complete denial of being hipsters themselves
