To be honest I don't think De Jong's tackle was as reckless as many claim it to be, hear me out: 1) His eyes were on the ball and it's not irregular for players to reach for the ball with their feet. 2) Once you're in the air, that's it there's nothing you can do except brace yourself when you see the collision incoming (which you see him do) 3) It should have been a red card, yes. But even though De Jong has had the reputation of being an aggressive tackler (in the way that he's fearless and dependable), he had never before been involved in an ugly tackle like that and he has never since been involved in an ugly tackle like that, so I think we need to cut him some slack.

Ramsey actually broke his leg before the contact with Shawcross. He planted his foot in the ground and wasn't actually tackled by him, but Shawcross was sent off as he was about to go in for the tackle and was the nearest to Ramsey when the injury occurred
