@@Sweatcheck69 US doesn’t need fancy ICBM’s. It’s geography makes any attack take 20-30mins to reach mainland US. More than enough time to launch every ICBM US has in retaliation. Once an ICBM reaches space, it’s unstoppable. US east coast and Hawaii have a huge arsenal of anti missile defense that can stop any icbm launched from a submarine. Hence why Russia has so much interest in the arctic, above Canada, it’s the only place they could launch a potential “first strike” before US could respond.

All of those missiles are hypersonic. I think what you meant are hypersonic gliders. The ballistic missiles are actually faster (> march 10, they are actually the fastest human weapons in existence except lasers) however because they follow a ballist trajectory they are relatively easier to detect and intercept (though more modern systems allows them to have a limited ability to perform evasive maneuvers). The hypersonic gliders fly in a much flatter trajectory (which means harder to detect, give the defenders less warning time) and can perform much bigger maneuvers. Furthermore, the hypersonic gliders are actually warheads rather than entire missile system, which means in theory they can be mounted on conventional ballistic missiles. For example, currently the only glider which entered operational status is the Chinese DF17, and it is mounted on a DF-16 (ballistic missile) rocket engine.

And just remember these are traveling mach 10+ when in space. I see it really unrealistic to any country at the moment being able to be protected by full scale nuclear stand off.
