Honestly, can we truly say how it would turn out, or how it would compare to Superman? Togo's element does actually seem to be airtime-focused megas. Sure, the ones in America were atrocious, but perhaps it's because Togo isn't great with coasters that have inversions.

0:58 Judging by the 2013 date on the eBay listing, the model would've been around 15 years old at that point (since it has to predate the actual Superman: Krypton Coaster built by B&M that was opened in 2000). The seller is also listed from Seguin, Texas (a suburb of San Antonio) so it obviously didn't travel very far from the park the coaster was supposed to go in. If I had to take a guess, after Togo's idea was rejected the model was put into storage at a branch office Togo had in Texas and then ended up in private hands when Togo went bankrupt in 2001 and that branch office shut down as a result. Someone then had it in their private collection for a decade or so, then sold it to the flea market vendor who the eBay seller got it from. This is purely speculative, of course, but it makes sense to me. :)

Boiler One I rode the high roller. It was actually really boring. I had just ridden Big Shot. So the coaster that just went in a few circles around the side of the tower was kind of boring. It did not really do anything or go fast. Now I realize it pretty cool to be able to say I did it. But I remember thinking it was no big deal. The new(er) ride that goes over the edge of the tower is WAY scarier. I’ll never go it it again.

The one time I went up the Stratosphere, we bought the lift ticket, plus two ride tickets, one for the High Roller, and one for the Big Shot. When we got up there, the High Roller was down (we offered our services as sandbags while they were testing it) but ended up having to do the Big Shot twice instead. Damn! (Probably the best luck I ever had in Vegas.)
@CONSOLETRUTH2
@CONSOLETRUTH2 3 жыл бұрын
The high roller sucked. I wanted my money back even though i got to ride it for free. The 2 newer rides go from eh, to crazy. I cant remember which is named what but one os basically a teeter totter that, when pointed down, it slides forward and stops with the car a good few feet past the end, unless you sit in front, its not that great. The other one moves the ride over the edge and starts to spin, and as it does its arms extend outward until you are basically looking close to straight down. Funny story with that onebis some years back, as a safety feature if high winds kick up, it was at its mid ride point when it shut down with it fully extended leaving passengers stuck, looking down, for like 4t min before they could be brought back in. Some of the riders of course tried to sue but had no case as the ride did what it was designed to do and if you have ever been to Vegas then you know it can be calm outside and 5 seconds later 45 mph winds kick up out of nowhere.

Whats funny is that before the coaster, there were plans for a king kong ride where riders would be placed in the torso of kong asbit climbed to the top and then skidded down. While these were never buikt, if you want to pony up $120 you can attach yourself to a steel cable and jump off the side of the tower and you are slowed by a braking mechanism before you hit the ground.

The wing spinning coaster is a way better design than the axis coaster. Looks like it would have much higher passengers per hour, wonder why it never cought on when a lesser successor might. Also if a flat ride bankrupted a park they had some major financial issues far beforehand.

With Togo having a pretty poor record with their U.S. installations, it seems like it's a blessing in disguise that it never happened that way. It would be different though if it was more on the quality level of Fujiyama. -Gary

@@ArrowThrills , What I mean is that Togo wasn't exactly a producer of quality coasters in the U.S. as most of them have been pretty rough. Thinking about the coasters of Togo, if this proposed one for Fiesta Texas rode more like Big Apple Coaster at New York, New York Hotel in Vegas, then it would have probably been an awful ride. On the other hand, if it rode like Fujiyama in Japan (which is a really good ride), then it would probably be pretty popular. -Gary

I actually invested in the Orlando Polercoaster! Only a small amount of money but it sounded so cool. I got my money back because they canned the whole project before it got anywhere because the first round of funding didn't meet its goal.

Dunno about you, but the fishhook coaster on the stratosphere probably woulda been a disaster if it had been built. Going from 700 feet and being stopped by a 400 foot spike.Even with it being beyond vertical, somehow I could see it flying off the track and crashing on the first test run.

Half of Six Flags projects either got cancelled or went to a different park during the 2000s, so I'm kinda glad Fiesta Texas and Magic Mountain ended up at least getting Superman and X2 beforehand.

For the inverted wooden coaster concept, RMC would be the most likely manufacturer to revive the concept. However, inverted track in general is very expensive probably due to needing extra material to allow the track to be suspended as well as reinforcing the structure since it can't just rest on supports.

I've ridden Tranan once, and all i can say is it was really fun. I had no idea that the ride actually had an inversion, it's amazing how they hid it. The restraints are a bit weird, they're like seatbelts but its more old-school i guess. I'd gladly recommend Tranan!

Damn, can't believe I had the same idea of a coaster type that already excisted (the X-wing coaster) without even knowing it did. The only thing I had different was that my version was more like a doubledecker wing coaster than a divecoaster with wings. Hope Disney takes some notes... Would love to see s&s make a Tie Fighter Axis coaster aswel!

Little bit of trivia for you. When Bob Stupak built the Stratosphere in the early 90s, he envisioned a King Kong style ride where a large gorilla filled with riders would climb up the side of the tower. I don't recall how much investment conceptually happened, but I do recall seeing concept drawings for it.
